Marc Marquez is back to his old form in MotoGP, as he is displaying obscene levels of dominance with Ducati in 2025.
It marks one of the greatest sporting comebacks after years of injury and uncertainty at Honda, following his near-career-ending accident at Jerez in 2020. Marquez’s mother told him everything would work out after the crash – she could not have been more right.
After leaving Honda in 2023 for Ducati satellite team Gresini, he won three races and finished third in the standings as Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia’s closest rival, despite riding the year-old GP23. Making the jump to the GP25 with the factory team has been seamless.
The 2025 MotoGP season is at the halfway point, and the 32-year-old is already 120 points clear at the top. Marquez has won eight out of 12 Grand Prix so far and all but one Sprint.
Ducati feared Marquez would win another championship with another team, hence why they snapped him up to partner with Bagnaia. The Spaniard is now a certainty to win in 2025 and looks likely to win again next season, and break numerous records along the way.

Marc Marquez needs 20 more wins to break Valentino Rossi’s all-time record
By joining the Borgo Panigale outfit, who have been utterly dominant in MotoGP over the past few years, the Spaniard has the chance to break several records. Marquez will become the oldest champion in 2025; he is also the sport’s youngest champion after winning in his rookie season in 2013.
Marquez can beat Valentino Rossi’s fastest laps record by claiming another seven in 2025. Given his current form, it is highly likely that the feat will be achieved, and he is edging closer to his nemesis’ all-time record.
Sitting on 70 MotoGP wins, Marquez is 19 victories behind Rossi. He would need 20 more to officially become the winningest rider in premier class history.
| Pos. | Rider | Wins |
| 1 | Valentino Rossi | 89 |
| 2 | Marc Marquez | 70 |
| 3 | Giacomo Agostini | 68 |
| 4 | Mick Doohan | 54 |
| 5 | Jorge Lorenzo | 47 |
With his current level of dominance, many will wonder when the feat can be achieved. Hypothetically, if Marquez were to win every race, he would break the record by the 2026 Czech Grand Prix.
Of course, grabbing the record midway through 2026 is quite unlikely, but it would not be impossible to imagine Marquez doing so by the end of the year at the latest. Once 20 more wins are under his belt, he can set his sights on beating Giacomo Agostini’s record of all-time motorcycle racing wins, with 122.

Marc Marquez claims he is not thinking about beating Valentino Rossi’s record
Marquez’s entourage say he is going through an intense training regime while at Ducati. Therefore, it is no surprise to see him performing at the level that he is, which will worry his fiercest rival.
Those close to Rossi are worried about Marquez’s form and the prospect of him breaking his record. The pair’s rivalry is felt in MotoGP today, and there is still bad blood between them even after Rossi’s retirement.
Marquez says reconciliation with Rossi doesn’t depend only on him, but on both parties. He has not spoken to the Italian since he left MotoGP and the Ducati rider claims he is not focused on beating his accomplishments.
Instead, he is more focused on his comeback from injury. Marquez refused to answer about winning the 2025 title at Misano, which is Rossi’s home circuit; he is looking to block out his rival.
