Marc Marquez could not have asked for a better start to life at Ducati. The six-time MotoGP opened the 2025 season in fine style.
Marquez secured maximum points at the Thailand Grand Prix, securing pole position and winning the Sprint and the main race.
His brother and former Gresini teammate Alex Marquez finished second with Francesco Bagnaia third. The result in Buriram marked the first time in MotoGP history that two brothers locked out the top two.

Marc and Alex’s father Julia Marquez was ‘overwhelmed’ in Thailand as he watched his sons finish one-two. The pair could have an exciting season in 2025 on Ducati machinery with the manufacturer still proving dominant in the premier class.
Marc’s victory will no doubt be an emotional moment for his family given his comeback from injury in 2020. With the win in Buriram, the Ducati rider has proved his mother’s prediction right from five years ago.

Marc Marquez proves his mother’s prediction right with Thailand win – everything has worked out since his 2020 injury
Marquez has struggled to perform in MotoGP since winning his sixth championship in 2019 with Honda. The Spaniard suffered a season-ending injury the following year at Jerez.
He has been struggling to regain full performance ever since, with more accidents and operations following over the years. Marquez left Honda for Gresini in 2024 – and it was here where things began to click again.

The 32-year-old claimed three wins and 10 podiums on the satellite Ducati last year before being promoted to the factory team. It is an incredible comeback from what has been a very tough period for the family.
Speaking on the SER Podcast, Marquez’s mother Roser Alenta recalled telling him that ‘everything will work out’ after his injury in 2020. The Spaniard’s win in Buriram proves her prediction correct.
“Everything will work out with effort, everything will work out, you’ll see.’ It has been very long, very long both for him and for me, his mother, as well as his brother and the family.
“But well, in the end, everything has its reward and he feels happy and that’s it. Last year when he got on a podium in Gresini, he came third, I don’t care.
“Even if he came fourth or fifth, I swear I cried with emotion.”

What Marc Marquez’s mother is scared of reading after his victory in Thailand
Marquez’s win in Buriram has given him a clear advantage over his Ducati teammate Bagnaia. The Italian offered little competition to the other side of the garage as he finished third behind the Marquez brothers.
Bagnaia tried leaving the press conference early in Buriram as he looked ‘tired’ of being the ‘plus one on the Marquez show’. It is evident the six-time champion has the mental edge over his teammate and title rival.
Marquez has continuously played down his title chances throughout the off-season. But with his win in Thailand being on a Ducati, he is already being tipped for a seventh MotoGP title.
Alenta is uneasy with people proclaiming Marquez the champion already seeing as there is 21 rounds still to go. She has urged her son to ‘control the euphoria’ as Bagnaia could easily fight back and put himself back in contention.
