Marc Marquez gives answer as to whether he can win the 2025 MotoGP title at Valentino Rossi’s ‘home’

Marc Marquez is edging closer to his seventh MotoGP title and ninth motorcycle Grand Prix championship in 2025 after his latest win at the Czech Grand Prix.

Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia took pole position at Brno, but failed to capitalise as he encountered a tyre pressure issue during the Sprint, which turned out to be an electronic issue. Marquez suffered the same problem, but he was able to recover and claim his 11th win on Saturday in 2025.

Marquez may have outsmarted Bagnaia as the Italian could only manage P7. The Czech Grand Prix on Sunday saw the Spaniard battle Marco Bezzecchi for the win, with the Aprilia rider displaying excellent pace to rival the championship leader.

But Bezzecchi realised he had no chance against Marquez when he beat his fastest lap time and pulled away at the front. The Ducati rider beat the Italian by 1.7 seconds to grab his eighth double win of the season.

Marc Marquez is not thinking about when he will win the 2025 title when asked if he will become champion at Misano

With Alex Marquez crashing out of the race in the early stages, brother Marc now has a 120-point lead in the standings. The 32-year-old has left many people wondering when, not if, he will win the 2025 MotoGP title.

With 10 rounds and 20 races still to go, there are several opportunities available for his rivals to catch him. Marquez knows that the title is his to lose, but he is not thinking about when or where he will claim his seventh premier class championship.

The Spaniard was asked by Marca if he could win the title at his rival Valentino Rossi’s ‘home’, that being Misano – his home town of Urbino is under an hour away from the circuit. But Marquez refused to answer about his nemesis, stating that he is not thinking about that.

“You know I’m not going to answer you, as if you didn’t know me,” he said. “I’m not going to talk about where or when I want to close out the World Championship.

“I’m just going to be honest, too. I’m approaching the last ten races of the World Championship, after the summer, with the mentality that I can only lose. So, if I have to manage a race, I’ll have to manage, but if I can win, as happened here, I’ll try.”

Is it possible for Marc Marquez to win the 2025 MotoGP championship on Valentino Rossi’s home turf?

The San Marino Grand Prix is in four races time, scheduled for 14 September. With a maximum of 148 points available from Austria to Misano and Marquez leading the championship by 120 points, it is possible that the Spaniard could claim the title by then.

However, he would have to produce a 103-point swing over brother Alex to achieve it, given there are 222 points up for grabs in the final six events. With the Gresini rider’s consistency in 2025, having finished outside the top two seven times out of 24 races, it does seem unlikely.

But it is possible, and it is something that Rossi will not want to happen, given his intense rivalry with the Spaniard. The Italian’s record as the oldest champion could be beaten in 2025, but Marquez is not interested in breaking Rossi’s records, as he is more focused on his comeback from injury.

Rossi’s entourage is worried by Marquez’s form and the prospect that he could break his records. He will be hoping he slips up in the final 10 races of the season, or his close friend Bagnaia can close the gap.
