Senna Agius is currently making waves in Moto2, and Neil Hodgson thinks the young Australian already has the same skillset that saw Casey Stoner become a two-time MotoGP world champion.
Now in his third full term of racing in the intermediate class, Senna Agius currently sits P3 in the riders’ standings with one win under his belt after 10 rounds of racing. His performances have caught the eye of MotoGP outfit Tech3, who are yet to announce their 2027 line-up.

With Jack Miller looking down the barrel of a MotoGP exit, the 21-year-old is now racing under the mantle of being Australia’s next big superstar in Grand Prix motorcycle racing. Valentino Rossi is already ‘impressed’ by Agius’ exploits on two wheels.
MotoGP pundit Neil Hodgson has also been mightily impressed with the young Australian, and believes he, as Casey Stoner did, would really come into his own atop more powerful MotoGP machinery.

Neil Hodgson reckons Senna Agius is ‘suited’ to having more power underneath him like Casey Stoner
During a discussion over which way Tech3 may swing with their rider line-up next year on the Gas It Out podcast, Hodgson gave his verdict on who the French satellite team should field in 2027.
MotoGP is expecting to see several Moto2 riders step up in 2027, but who will be the first to win a race?
After Hodgson identified Brad Binder as Tech3’s best option regarding which veteran rider they should pair with a rookie, he was torn between choosing Agius and fellow Moto2 rival, Manuel Gonzalez, eventually opting for the latter.
“I’d probably go, as much as this breaks me to say it, because I love Senna Agius, I’d say Manu Gonzalez, who I really respect,” Hodgson said. “The only reason [I’m scoffing at] Manu Gonzalez is because he’d be another Spanish rider.”
However, in an ideal world, Hodgson noted that Agius would certainly be riding for him if the 2003 World Superbikes champion were Tech3’s team principal.

“If I were to be totally honest, if I were to pick for that team, I’d go for a pair of rookies,” he continued. “I’d take that risk. I think Senna’s a special talent. I think he’s a little bit like Casey Stoner, he’s suited having more power.
“Gonzalez is also a special talent, so as the satellite team, I’d like to think that KTM would be pushing them in that direction. But then, obviously, if it’s your team and you’re Guenther Steiner, you’re like, ‘Whoa, no, hang on a minute. I want a guaranteed race winner.’”
