Jack Miller’s future in MotoGP has been under scrutiny for the best part of 12 months now, and Ricard Jove believes the Pramac rider is now ‘nervous’ over Senna Agius potentially being the only Australian on the grid in 2027.
Despite Spanish and Italian riders currently dominating the seats on the MotoGP grid, Australia has always had a front-running flag-bearer to cheer on.
Wayne Gardner became the first Aussie to claim a world title, paving the way for legends such as Mick Doohan and Casey Stoner. Jack Miller currently holds the baton, but that could quickly be passed over to Moto2 star Senna Agius.
Mick Doohan says Senna Agius is going from ‘strength to strength’ in Moto2… Do you think we’ll see him on the MotoGP grid in 2027? 🇦🇺

There have been reports that MotoGP could help Agius land Miller’s seat at Pramac for the 2027 campaign, leading a Spanish pundit to reveal that the seasoned veteran is now nervous over the prospect of losing his seat on the grid.

Ricard Jove says Jack Miller is now ‘nervous’ now that Senna Agius is ‘earning’ a place in MotoGP
During a recent episode of the Duralavita podcast, MotoGP pundits Ramon Forcada and Ricard Jove discussed the possibility of Agius making the step up to the premier class following his impressive recent form in the 2026 Moto2 championship.
In terms of the championship landscape, Forcada believes that the young Australian must now be taken seriously by his rivals, after starting the campaign off with consecutive out-of-the-points finishes.
Former MotoGP team boss Jove then highlighted how Agius is showing signs that he is more than capable of a ride in the premier class.
He told his co-hosts, “Senna has been pointing out for days now that he’ll probably be one of the next Moto2 riders to move up to MotoGP. I don’t know if it’ll happen this very year, because there’s a lot of movement.
Are there too many Spanish riders on the MotoGP grid?
“But we can consider that, with David Alonso and Holgado already confirmed in this case, Senna is earning his place. Miller is nervous, and there has to be an Australian, as we have Adelaide.
“Don’t lose sight of the fact that there has to be an Australian at Adelaide. And if Miller is there, the other one might not be. Senna is earning it; the race he put in was textbook, too.
“Veijer had a good race with a good pace, but Senna was there and had the better pace all weekend. Even on Friday, Senna was on a different pace in this race, and we’ve now had two like that.”

Valentino Rossi has been impressed with Senna Agius’ skill on two wheels
Agius’ win at the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend marked his second consecutive victory in the intermediate class and thrust him into championship contention. He currently sits in second place in the riders’ standings, behind Manuel Gonzalez.
His supreme bike skill has even caught the eye of MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, who accommodated the young Australian at his ranch in Tavullia.
Senna’s manager, Chaz Davies, revealed how impressed Rossi was with the Moto2 star, highlighting his talents on two wheels as ‘super impressive’.
While that is unlikely to lead him to a seat on the premier class grid alone, it’s certainly encouraging for the youngster, as any rider who has been given the nod by the seven-time MotoGP world champion could be worth a substantial shot in the future.
