Brad Binder’s MotoGP future remains in balance. As the number of free seats on the 2027 MotoGP grid continues to decline, Neil Hodgson has had his say on whether the KTM rider deserves another chance.
The clock is ticking for the South African rider, and it remains to be seen whether he is offered another shot at proving that he deserves to remain on the MotoGP grid. At the time of writing, there are 10 open seats, but realistically, Binder is only being considered for one.
Will Brad Binder be on the MotoGP grid in 2027?
KTM’s announcement of Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio’s signing for 2027 confirmed Binder’s exit from the Austrian constructor at the end of the current term, and his options are quickly running out.
Tech3 have reportedly removed Binder from their shortlist of riders who they want to fill the two open spots at the French satellite team next year, but MotoGP pundit Neil Hodgson has urged owner Guenther Steiner to reconsider.
Neil Hodgson says Brad Binder would ‘100%’ be on the MotoGP grid if he were running Tech3
With the 2027 campaign marking the first season in which Steiner has a say in Tech3‘s rider line-up, it has been suggested that the KTM-backed satellite team will be looking to partner a rookie with one of MotoGP’s most experienced riders.
Speaking via the Gas It Out podcast, Hodgson believes Tech3 should look further than their bike supplier to cement Binder’s place on the grid next year.
“What we’re being told is it’s going to be one experienced rider, and one rookie,” he said, before adding, “I would 100% have Binder on it out of the group of veterans, he’d be my choice.”

Even the South African’s teammate, Pedro Acosta, believes Binder ‘definitely’ deserves to remain in the premier class. In an interview ahead of this weekend’s German GP, the 22-year-old detailed how hard Binder is currently working in an attempt to turn his woes around.
Failing that, Binder is looking at potentially securing a seat on the World Superbikes grid, akin to the path that Miguel Oliveira took upon his exit from MotoGP at the end of 2025. However, it has also been reported that Binder is facing competition for a WSBK seat, too.
Manuel Gonzalez, who is also in the running for a seat at Tech3, has been overlooked regarding a seat in the premier class for several years now, and the Spaniard is prepared to take his talents elsewhere if an opportunity in MotoGP doesn’t present itself soon.
