KTM are yet to confirm their second rider for the 2027 MotoGP season after signing Alex Marquez, but the seat could now be open to Moto2 star Senna Agius.
No rider signings have been officially announced for the 2027 season as the MotoGP teams continue their negotiations with Dorna over the next Concorde Agreement. However, it is understood that multiple deals have already been done, and KTM have been active.
Predict the order of the KTM riders in the 2026 MotoGP standings
With Pedro Acosta Ducati-bound for next year, the Austrian outfit have had to act fast to find his replacement. Subsequently, KTM have signed Alex Marquez for 2027, with the Spaniard fulfilling his desire to become a factory rider.
Who the second seat goes to at KTM is unknown at this stage, with Brad Binder, Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini out of contract in 2026. The three riders could all miss out on the factory seat, with Agius a potential beneficiary.
KTM could ‘open up’ 2027 seat to Senna Agius
It was understood that Vinales would be promoted to the factory KTM team from Tech3 in 2027, given his performances on the RC16 last year. The Spaniard had impressed on the bike despite injuries plaguing his season.
However, after a poor start to 2026, which has yielded no points, Vinales’ factory contract is ‘on hold’. KTM are weighing up their options and are in talks with several riders to partner with Marquez next season.
Who should KTM sign as Alex Marquez’s teammate for the 2027 season?
As per a report from Motorsport Espana, Binder, Vinales and Bastianini could all be offered the seat, although it is understood that Bastianini is a top target for Gresini. KTM are also exploring options outside of their current MotoGP line-up.
The seat next to Marquez could ‘open up’ to Moto2 talent, including Collin Veijer, who is currently racing for the KTM Ajo team, and Agius, who is ‘being closely watched by several manufacturers’. The Aussie is in the conversation for a factory seat in 2027.

Senna Agius is also an option for Trackhouse in 2027
The 20-year-old is considered to be a title contender in 2026. Agius won at COTA before the April break, putting him sixth in the standings heading into Jerez.
With these performances, MotoGP teams are taking notice, with KTM keeping him in mind. However, other teams are keeping tabs on Agius for 2027.
Motorsport ES notes that he is in talks with Trackhouse. Ai Ogura is joining Yamaha next year, while there is uncertainty surrounding Raul Fernandez’s future.
Agius is also linked with Pramac as Jack Miller faces pressure to keep his seat in the premier class. He has several options on the table, but he must keep his performances up in Moto2.
