Fabio Di Giannantonio has been one of the surprise performers during the opening three rounds of the 2026 MotoGP season, and he reportedly has four different outfits that are vying for his signature ahead of the 2027 term.
With two pole positions to his name and a solitary podium finish, Fabio Di Giannantonio has enjoyed the best start to a MotoGP campaign in the five years he has spent as a premier class competitor.
However, his future in MotoGP beyond 2026 is yet to be determined. Fermin Aldeguer is expected to be making the move over to VR46 from Gresini next season, with the second seat at Valentino Rossi’s MotoGP outfit still a mystery.

It’s still possible for Di Giannantonio to remain at VR46 next season, but a new set of technical regulations threatens to shake up the pecking order of the grid, and taking a gamble on a new bike could pay dividends if he lands in the right spot.

Fabio Di Giannantonio is on the radar of several MotoGP teams for 2027
According to a report by Sky Italia, the VR46 star is currently a name on the shortlist of four different teams on the MotoGP grid for the sport’s new era of regulations next year.
The teams in question are KTM and their satellite team Tech3, Trackhouse, and finally Pramac. The report notes that at this moment in time, KTM are the ‘most insistent voice’, and it’s largely down to Maverick Vinales’ poor performances at the start of the term.
KTM’s strategy depends heavily on whether Tech3 remains in their stable or completes a rumoured move to Honda. Even if Tech3 stays with KTM, Di Giannantonio remains a target, potentially replacing the Gresini-linked Enea Bastianini.
Who should KTM sign as Alex Marquez’s teammate for the 2027 season?
With Ai Ogura now heading to Yamaha for the 2027 season, a secondary option for the Italian rider has opened up at Trackhouse. This leaves Trackhouse owner Justin Marks searching for an experienced, race-winning rider who can maximise the RS-GP’s potential.
If Honda successfully expands to a six-bike lineup, by potentially absorbing Tech3, they will require a mix of veterans and development-heavy riders. Di Giannantonio is viewed as the ideal candidate to stabilise a satellite or third factory-backed entry, especially if Johann Zarco does not continue past 2026.
The final option comes in the form of Pramac, who will be hoping for a more competitive Yamaha prototype next year. The team is usually a gateway for young talent, and so Pramac’s interest in Di Giannantonio depends on Izan Guevara.
If Guevara is deemed unready for a MotoGP promotion, Di Giannantonio’s proven ability to manage factory-spec Ducati machinery makes him the logical fallback, given their history of pursuing the Italian rider.
