Izan Guevara is set to follow Moto2 rivals David Alonso and Dani Holgado to MotoGP in 2027, according to a report.

It emerged on Tuesday that Alonso is in line to partner Fabio Quartararo in the Honda factory team next year. Ducati had also been strongly linked with the Colombian.

Meanwhile, Holgado is set to join Gresini, who are now poised to extend their contract with Ducati. Nadia Padovani needs two new riders, after reportedly losing Fermin Aldeguer to VR46 and Alex Marquez to KTM.

Izan Guevara is ‘destined’ to get a 2027 Pramac MotoGP seat

According to Sky Italy, Alonso and Holgado aren’t the only Moto2 riders who are ‘practically certain’ to be on next year’s MotoGP grid, as Guevara is also in that bracket.

Quartararo’s move to Honda opens up a space in the Yamaha roster, though Jorge Martin is expected to fill it when he joins from Aprilia.

Instead, it is said that Guevara is ‘already destined for Pramac’, having already started to build a relationship with the team after riding for the Pramac Yamaha Moto2 team since 2025.

Alex Rins is out of contract at the end of the year, and there are growing doubts over whether he will be offered an extension.

Pramac would be the natural starting point for Guevara, but that would likely rely on Toprak Razgatlioglu moving up to the factory Yamaha team. Jack Miller is thought to be safe, so the youngster would have a MotoGP veteran to learn from.

Yamaha haven’t ruled out signing a young talent directly to the official team, but Razgatlioglu, who scored his first MotoGP point in the United States, is starting to build a case to partner Martin instead.

How is Izan Guevara doing in Moto2 this season?

Guevara, the 2022 Moto3 champion, is now embarking on his fourth year in the intermediate class.

His first two seasons were difficult as he finished 22nd and then 17th in the championship, but he made a breakthrough last year by winning at the season finale in Valencia.

Guevara was invited to the post-season MotoGP test in recognition of that achievement, a clear sign that he was being considered for a 2027 seat.

He has reached another level at the start of 2026, scoring podiums in Thailand and the United States and a P6 in Brazil. It’s his best three-race run in the championship.

Heading into the break, Guevara sits second in the standings, just 3.5 points behind Gonzalez. If he maintains his current form, a promotion will certainly appear justified.
