Alex Marquez has reached an agreement to join KTM from the 2027 MotoGP season, it has been reported.
The MotoGP rider market has already seen several big moves for the 2027 campaign, as manufacturers looks to secure their talents before the 2026 season kicks off in Thailand.
Alex Marquez looks to be KTM-bound! 😲 Has he made the right choice leaving Gresini?
Honda have signed Fabio Quartararo on a two-year contract, with Jorge Martin heading to Yamaha as his replacement from Aprilia. KTM star Pedro Acosta looks to be joining Ducati, having signed a two-year deal to partner with Marc Marquez.
With Acosta off to Borgo Panigale, KTM needed a replacement, and Motorsport Espana is reporting that Alex Marquez is their man.

Alex Marquez has ‘practically finalised’ a two-year contract with KTM from 2027
The Gresini rider enjoyed his best MotoGP season to date in 2025, winning three races and finishing runner-up in the championship to his brother Marc Marquez.
Alex Marquez has expressed that he is happy at Gresini, but he has said that he wants to be racing for a factory team. He will have a factory bike in 2026, but with his brother and Acosta in the factory team for the next two years, he faces leaving Ducati.
Yamaha were pursuing Marquez to come in alongside Martin, with Bagnaia also a target for the Iwata outfit. KTM were also interested, and it seems the Austrians have struck a deal.
The report from Motorsport Espana claims that Marquez has ‘practically finalised’ his future with KTM from 2027 onwards. He looks set to have signed a two-year deal with the manufacturer, taking him until at least 2028.

Alex Marquez will partner with Maverick Vinales in 2027
KTM have acted fast on the market to replace Acosta. With Marquez’s signing, they have now locked in their riders for 2027.
Maverick Vinales will be promoted to KTM from satellite team Tech3. The Spaniard, who will be coached by Jorge Lorenzo in 2026, is set to replace Brad Binder.
Vinales is ‘happy’ to be paired with Marquez in an all-new Spanish line-up at KTM. It is an exciting combination as the latter returns to a factory outfit for the first time since leaving Honda.
His decision to leave Gresini is a bold one, but with his desire to ride for a factory team, KTM offered what Ducati could not for 2027.
