MotoGP enters a new era in 2027 as the 850cc regulations arrive, and many teams will also run new rider line-ups – including Ducati, with Pedro Acosta widely tipped to join.

The MotoGP rider market kicked off extremely early in 2026, as just three of the 22 riders on the grid entered the season with contracts beyond the end of the year. Talk soon turned to a new deal at Ducati for Marc Marquez, while Francesco Bagnaia was looking at the exit door.

MotoGP teams moved early to lock in their line-ups as the premier class enters a new era in 2027 with 850cc capacity engines, additional restrictions on aerodynamics and a full ban on ride height devices. With so many stars also out of contract, teams did not want to miss out.

With that in mind, MotoGP News runs you through the full 2027 grid – including every rider move as it is confirmed and the latest rumours as the 22-rider field continues to take shape.

Ducati: Marc Marquez (TBC) and Pedro Acosta (TBC)

As of the time of writing, Ducati have not confirmed either of their two riders for the 2027 MotoGP season. Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia both entered the final year of their respective contracts with the Borgo Panigale squad at the beginning of the 2026 campaign.

Also, while reports began to surface in February 2026 that suggested Marquez had already signed a contract extension with Ducati for 2027 and 2028, the Cervera native has opted to bide his time before putting pen to paper after spending the winter recovering from injury.

Marquez’s decision to delay signing a new contract has also delayed Ducati announcing the expected signing of KTM rider Pedro Acosta. It is thought that Ducati felt forced into signing Acosta to replace Bagnaia in 2027 as they feared missing out on the Spaniard if they waited.

Aprilia: Marco Bezzecchi and Francesco Bagnaia (TBC)

As of the time of writing, Aprilia have only confirmed Marco Bezzecchi as part of their rider line-up for the 2027 MotoGP season. Jorge Martin is due to be out of contract with Aprilia when the 2026 campaign comes to a conclusion at the Valencia Grand Prix this November.

Bezzecchi signed a new two-year Aprilia contract before the start of the 2026 season, with the Italian the first rider to formally act in the market. Aprilia then wasted little time to get Francesco Bagnaia to agree to replace Martin after hearing about his likely exit from Ducati.

Reports surfaced in February 2026 that Bagnaia pulled a U-turn on joining Yamaha to agree a deal with Aprilia. It has also been suggested that the two-time MotoGP champion will sign anything from a two, three or even a four-year contract from 2027 with the Noale factory.

KTM: Alex Marquez (TBC) and Maverick Vinales (TBC)

As of the time of writing, the works KTM team have not confirmed either of their two riders for the 2027 MotoGP season. Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder are both currently set to be out of contract at the end of 2026, and the former is widely expected to quit KTM to join Ducati.

While KTM have not formally acted in the rider market, it is widely expected that they will promote Maverick Vinales from Tech3 and sign Gresini rider Alex Marquez for 2027. It has been claimed that KTM told Vinales in October 2025 that he will move into their top team.

Reports have also suggested that Marquez has agreed to join KTM for 2027, as he had felt unloved by the factory Ducati bosses after always racing on a satellite contract directly for Gresini. Ducati also showed no desire to promote Alex to join his brother Marc from 2027.

But after a poor start to the 2026 season owing to the ongoing effects of the shoulder injury he suffered at the 2025 German Grand Prix, it emerged in March that KTM have put Vinales’ factory promotion on hold. KTM have asked Vinales for more time, and will track his results.

Honda: Fabio Quartararo (TBC) and David Alonso (TBC)

At the time of writing, Honda have not currently confirmed either of their two riders for the 2027 MotoGP season. Joan Mir and Luca Marini have formed the Honda line-up since 2024, but the pair are both due to be out of contract at the Tokyo crew following the 2026 season.

It remains to be seen what the future has in store for Mir and Marini, as Honda are expected to replace both riders in their factory line-up. Reports began to surface in January 2026 that Yamaha racer Fabio Quartararo has agreed to join Honda from 2027 on a two-year contract.

Reports also surfaced at the end of March that Honda are set to sign David Alonso to round out their 2027 MotoGP rider line-up. Honda are believed to have won the race for Alonso’s signature by offering him a direct path from Moto2 into a factory MotoGP team as a rookie.

Yamaha: Jorge Martin (TBC) and Ai Ogura (TBC)

As of the time of writing, Yamaha have not yet announced either of their riders for the 2027 MotoGP season. Fabio Quartararo is out of contract at Yamaha in 2026 and expected to join Honda for the start of the 850cc regulations, and Alex Rins is also due to be out of contract.

Yamaha quickly moved to sign Jorge Martin to replace Quartararo from 2027, with reports surfacing since January that the 2024 champion is in talks to join the Iwata squad. After links with Fabio Di Giannantonio and Luca Marini, it emerged that Yamaha are signing Ai Ogura from Trackhouse.

Gresini: Enea Bastianini (TBC) and Daniel Holgado (TBC)

At the time of writing, Gresini have not confirmed either of their two riders for 2027. Alex Marquez is set to be out of contract directly to Gresini after the 2026 season and is looking likely to join KTM, while Fermin Aldeguer is placed at Gresini on a factory Ducati contract.

But while it is reported that Ducati have taken up their option to extend Aldeguer’s contract through 2028, the Borgo Panigale natives are also believed to be moving him out of Gresini.

So, Gresini have looked elsewhere for their 2027 line-up, and are believed to have settled on Tech3’s Enea Bastianini and Moto2 prospect Daniel Holgado. Reports surfaced in March that Gresini are set to sign Bastianini and Holgado after committing to a new satellite Ducati deal.

VR46: Fabio Di Giannantonio (TBC) and Fermin Aldeguer (TBC)

At the time of writing, Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Racing Team are yet to announce either of the riders who will form their line-up in the 2027 season. Franco Morbidelli is out of contract at VR46 at the end of 2026, and Fabio Di Giannantonio’s factory Ducati contract is set to lapse.

It is reported that Ducati are set to place Fermin Aldeguer at VR46 for the 2027 season, after offering Rossi’s outfit a top-tier rider in order to agree on an extension to their satellite team deal. VR46 confirmed they held talks with Aprilia, but are believed to be staying with Ducati.

After negotiating the terms of a new satellite deal, it also emerged in April that Ducati want to keep Di Giannantonio at VR46 in 2027. The Italian’s future with the Ducati fold and VR46 had looked very uncertain, but his strong start to 2026 quickly improved his stock once again.

Ducati placing Aldeguer and Di Giannantonio at VR46 in 2027 may rule out a MotoGP move for their World Superbike rider Nicolo Bulega, though. Reports linked Bulega with a potential move to MotoGP with VR46 in 2027, when MotoGP will switch from 1,000cc to 850cc bikes.

Trackhouse: TBC and TBC

As of the time of writing, Trackhouse are yet to confirm who will form their rider line-up for the 2027 season. Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez are both currently due to be out of contract directly to Trackhouse following the conclusion of the 2026 campaign, with Ogura now set to join Yamaha.

Tech3: TBC and TBC

As of the time of writing, Tech3 have not confirmed either of the riders who will form part of their 2027 MotoGP rider line-up. Tech3 currently field Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales on factory KTM contracts, which are both set to lapse following the end of the 2026 season.

With KTM now expected to promote Vinales into their factory rider line-up for 2027, there have been suggestions that KTM could demote Brad Binder to Tech3 in 2027 to retain him within their rider stable. KTM and Tech3 may look to sign a rising star for their second bike.

LCR: Johann Zarco (TBC) and Diogo Moreira (TBC)

While LCR are yet to confirm either of their riders for the 2027 MotoGP season, the satellite Honda squad are likely to retain Johann Zarco and Diogo Moreira for at least one more year. Zarco and his 2026 rookie teammate ride for LCR on factory Honda contracts through 2027.

Pramac: Toprak Razgatlioglu (TBC) and Izan Guevara (TBC)

As of the time of writing, Pramac are yet to announce who will ride for the team in the 2027 campaign. However, 2026 MotoGP rookie and three-time World Superbike champion Toprak Razgatlioglu has a factory Yamaha contract through 2027 that could see him stay at Pramac.

Jack Miller is due to be a free agent at the end of 2026, having only agreed to a second one-year factory Yamaha contract to remain at Pramac after the Japanese brand instead decided to release Miguel Oliveira at the end of 2025 ahead of Razgatlioglu’s debut on the YZR-M1.

Miller’s role in the development of Yamaha’s V4 engine keeps him in high stead at the Iwata natives. However, he may need Razgatlioglu to step up to Yamaha’s factory team in 2027, as reports emerged in March that Moto2 star Izan Guevara is destined to join Pramac in 2027.
