Ducati have confirmed that Pedro Acosta will be partnering with Marc Marquez at the factory MotoGP team in 2027 and 2028.

Confirmation of Acosta’s move across the premier class pit lane comes just hours after Ducati announced that Francesco Bagnaia will be exiting the team at the end of the current campaign.

A contract extension for Marc Marquez was also announced prior to their latest bulletin on Acosta. The seven-time MotoGP world champion will remain in Borgo Panigale until the end of the 2028 season.

Hailed as one of the worst-kept secrets in the MotoGP paddock, Acosta has been heavily linked with a move to Ducati since before the 2026 term kicked off.

It was widely understood that manufacturers were withholding their moves in the MotoGP rider market until after they had come to an agreement with MotoGP SEG over a new commercial deal involving each brand.

Ducati confirm Pedro Acosta will be racing alongside Marc Marquez at their factory team from 2027

In a press release issued by the Borgo Panigale-based MotoGP factory, they confirmed that Acosta will be riding in Ducati’s famous red overalls for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP campaigns at the very least.

Following the conclusion of the current term, Acosta will switch his loyalties from KTM, with the move occurring after a 12-month period that has seen the young Spaniard voice his frustrations with the calibre of the Austrian constructor’s prototype.

Marquez nearly dropped the ball on Acosta’s move to the Bologna Bullets after their thrilling battle at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The reigning world champion highlighted how he was ‘lucky’ that Acosta was ‘not yet’ riding a Ducati prototype this season.

As a two-time Grand Prix motorcycle racing world champion following his feats in Moto2 and Moto3, the 22-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects on the MotoGP grid.

Acosta currently sits P6 in the riders’ championship, having already claimed three Grand Prix podiums, including two P2s, and a Sprint race victory in 2026.

He remains keen on claiming a maiden win in the longer format race, which he is hoping to have plenty of opportunities to do once he settles into life as a Bologna Bullet.
