Jack Miller looks likely to be left without a place on the 2027 MotoGP grid, as Yamaha are moving firmly to put Moto2 gem Izan Guevara at Pramac in the Australian’s place.
Yamaha have offered Miller a MotoGP lifeline for the past two years, after picking him up for 2025 after his release by KTM. But while the 31-year-old has been a big asset thanks to his experiences with V4 engines, he has struggled to deliver strong results aboard the YZR-M1.
Only KTM Tech3 pilot Maverick Vinales has scored fewer points among the full-time riders in 2026 than Miller has recorded after the first five rounds. Vinales is yet to get off the mark, in part due to missing three races through injury, and Miller took his sole point so far in France.
In contrast, Guevara is showing Yamaha what he could potentially offer Pramac next season when MotoGP moves to 850cc bikes with his performances for Pramac’s Moto2 team. After five races, he is second in the Moto2 standings with a 9.5-point deficit to Manuel Gonzalez.
Does Jack Miller still have the talent to fight further up the grid?
Yamaha are ‘already preparing’ to promote Izan Guevara to Pramac’s MotoGP team in 2027
Guevara also won the Moto2 French Grand Prix last week, and Motorsport.com now reports that he and Yamaha are ‘already preparing’ the conditions for him to join Pramac in MotoGP in 2027. The 21-year-old will partner Toprak Razgatlioglu next term, at the expense of Miller.

Yamaha only need to finalise the terms of Guevara’s promotion to Pramac’s MotoGP line-up, as the Spaniard extended his contract with the Japanese constructor at the end of 2025. His deal locked the Mallorcan in through 2027 but does not specify the category he will race in.
Also, Yamaha gave Guevara his first MotoGP test in Valencia last November, during which he ‘impressed’ the Iwata crew – despite riding in less-than-ideal conditions. Pramac team chief Gino Borsoi has long been a huge fan of Guevara, as well, to further lay his path to MotoGP.
Guevara’s promotion will likely see Miller have to leave the MotoGP grid, however, as he has ‘no offers’ from any team for 2027 at present. Yamaha cannot keep Miller in their fold along with signing Guevara, having signed Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura to ride for their works entry.
You’re in charge of Yamaha, who are you taking as the 2027 Pramac MotoGP line-up?
Miller’s continuation with Pramac has looked very unlikely in recent weeks due to Guevara’s Moto2 form, as well. It has recently been said that Yamaha will have to promote Guevara to MotoGP in 2027 if he leaves Barcelona atop the Moto2 table due to a clause in his contract.
It has also been said lately that Yamaha have told Miller that he is surplus to requirements, amid reports that Guevara’s contract includes another clause based on him being the top rider with the Boscoscuro chassis in the Moto2 standings at the end of the 2026 campaign.
Should Guevara indeed secure his promotion to MotoGP with Pramac for next season, it is thought that Miller has an excellent chance to join Ducati’s World Superbike team for 2027. Despite racing in MotoGP since 2015, Miller has zero desire to become a test rider just yet.
