MotoGP insider Jack Appleyard has attempted to predict the entire grid for the 2027 season. There have already been some early decisions in the rider market.
For instance, Fabio Quartararo is expected to join Honda, while 2024 world champion Jorge Martin will move to Yamaha as his replacement.
Perhaps most notably, Pedro Acosta is on his way to Ducati to become Marc Marquez’s teammate. Appleyard puts Francesco Bagnaia alongside Martin at Yamaha, a rumour that has been gaining traction in recent days.

There could be a wave of announcements before the season opener in Thailand at the end of this month, potentially triggered by Marc Marquez’s extension.
Brad Binder among the riders predicted to lose his MotoGP seat
It’s also worth noting the riders who don’t feature in Appleyard’s predictions on X. While he cautions that it’s ‘way too early’ and he’ll probably be ‘completely wrong’, the paddock insider expects four veterans to fall off the grid.
One of them is Johann Zarco, even though he has a contract for 2027. Honda boss Alberto Puig is lukewarm on Zarco, having publicly revealed that it wasn’t his decision to offer him a new deal.
Appleyard can also see VR46’s Franco Morbidelli and Yamaha’s Alex Rins dropping off the grid. With Alex Marquez expected to join KTM alongside Maverick Vinales, there was a school of thought that Brad Binder could drop down to Tech3.

However, Appleyard says Guenther Steiner will sign Daniel Holgado along with a ‘Moto2 surprise’, potentially the KTM-backed rider Collin Veijer. This would likely leave Binder on the sidelines.

To round up the remaining predictions, Appleyard puts Enea Bastianini at Aprilia as Marco Bezzecchi’s new teammate. Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez remain at satellite team Trackhouse.
Intriguingly, despite Ducati’s explicit interest in David Alonso, he says the Colombian will join Honda to partner Quartararo. Luca Marini will drop to LCR as Diogo Moreira’s teammate, with Joan Mir switching to Gresini.
Fabio Di Giannantonio will effectively swap seats with Fermin Aldeguer, he says, and Nicolo Bulega will follow Toprak Razgatlioglu from World Superbikes to MotoGP in VR46 colours.
Finally, Pramac are predicted to stick with their 2026 line-up of Razgatlioglu and Jack Miller.
