Following the bombshell news of Fabio Quartararo’s Yamaha exit, the Iwata factory has moved immediately. Jorge Martin has reportedly inked a two-year deal to lead the Yamaha project starting in 2027.
Jorge Martin’s tenure at the factory Aprilia outfit has been a nightmare to say the least. After the highs of arriving in Noale as the reigning world champion, injury hell ensued, and a contract dispute was sprinkled in for good measure.
The Spaniard ended up backing down from his desire to leave following Marco Bezzecchi’s impressive results atop the RS-GP25, but an inkling of uncertainty has followed him since.
Following confirmation that Fabio Quartararo will be a Honda rider next year, Yamaha have been left without their star rider to lead the Iwata-based constructor into MotoGP’s new era of regulations in 2027.
However, the Japanese constructor has found another world champion to put their faith in.

Jorge Martin finalises two-year deal to join Yamaha in 2027
According to a report by Motorsport Espana, Martin is finalising a two-year deal that will see him ride for the factory Yamaha team in 2027.
The agreement comes in the midst of another injury setback for the Spaniard, who will be in Sepang for pre-season testing but watching from the sidelines.
A switch to Yamaha machinery in 2027 will mark the 2024 world champion’s third different bike in the space of just four years.
MotoGP fans thought Yamaha were ‘screwed’ after Quartararo’s departure was announced, but Martin just might be the man to save them from another era of disappointment in 2027.
It remains to be seen who Martin will be paired up with at Yamaha next year.
It has been suggested that Alex Rins will not remain as a factory Yamaha rider, which opens up the door to a potential Toprak Razgatlioglu partnership with the 28-year-old in 2027.
