MotoGP fans are worried that Marc Marquez will retire after seeing his 2027 grid predictions
Marquez’s predictions were certainly interesting, as he put three Moto2 rookies on the grid: David Alonso, Daniel Holgado, and Celestino Vietti. He placed them in Gresini, Tech3 and VR46, respectively.
The 32-year-old predicted that Martin and Acosta would join Honda, and that Quartararo would join Aprilia, despite rumours suggesting they are headed elsewhere. He also kept Francesco Bagnaia at Ducati alongside his brother, Alex Marquez, omitting himself from the grid entirely.
It is worth noting that Marquez is set to sign with Ducati for 2027, but many fans were left worried that he is genuinely going to retire from MotoGP, as they wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

How are Marc Marquez’s negotiations with Ducati currently progressing?
Marquez will certainly have some inside information about the rider market for 2027, and a retirement from MotoGP could be plausible. But then again, it could just be more mind games from the Spaniard as he wants to quieten the speculation about his future.
As aforementioned, the Ant of Cervera is in negotiations with Ducati over a new contract. He wants to stay in Borgo Panigale amid links to Honda and KTM.
However, the details of the contract are complicated. Marquez is said to want a one-year deal with the option of a second, while Ducati want him to commit to a two-year contract.
Only signing for 2027 would hint that Marquez wants to assess his options and see if Ducati still have a competitive bike under the new regulations. He may also not like the new rule changes, and a one-year deal would give him the option to retire if he wanted to.
