Pedro Acosta is being heavily linked with a move to the factory Ducati team in 2027 after the MotoGP rider market exploded into action in recent weeks.
The news came in the wake of big moves around the paddock for next season, with Fabio Quartararo set to join Honda and Jorge Martin heading to Yamaha. The KTM rider was also tipped to make a move for 2027.
Has Pedro Acosta lived up to the hype in his MotoGP career to date?
Acosta has expressed frustration towards the Austrian outfit as they have not been able to provide him with a winning bike. While he has proven himself to be a top talent in MotoGP, he is still searching for his maiden win in the premier class.
That is why the 21-year-old is reportedly set to join Ducati in 2027. Reports have suggested that Acosta has already signed his 2027 contract and will partner with Marc Marquez.

Pedro Acosta likes the ‘whole world’ talking about him joining Ducati in 2027
Naturally, the rumours have dominated the MotoGP paddock during pre-season testing in Malaysia. Acosta denies that he has spoken to anyone yet, but many people believe that the Spaniard is heading for Borgo Panigale.
Acosta had tried to break his KTM contract back in 2025 and force a move to satellite team VR46. While Dorna prevented the deal from happening, he looks like he will get away from Austria, but he is headed for Ducati instead.
Ducati executives felt ‘forced’ into signing Acosta for damage prevention, given how fast the MotoGP rider market has moved already. He is set to replace Francesco Bagnaia, who could be on the way to Yamaha in 2027.
With rumours about a transfer away from KTM before the 2026 season, many could see that as creating friction between the rider and the team, with Carlos Checa calling for MotoGP to have a transfer window. But Acosta actually likes the speculation around his future.
Addressing the rumours via MOW, he said: “We’ll see what it will be, we have time. Let’s try to get some results right away and then start talking. In the end, it’s always nice to have people talking about you, so let’s try to have good races so the whole world talks about it.”

Will Pedro Acosta work well with Marc Marquez at Ducati in 2027?
With Marquez as his teammate, Acosta gives Ducati a formidable rider line-up. It is the perfect balance of experience and young talent, both of which are capable of winning races and championships.
But with Acosta being viewed as the future of MotoGP, he will want to usurp Marquez and take his crown. It has left some people wondering if this pairing will actually work.
Is there a better rider for Ducati to sign?
Jorge Lorenzo warns Ducati may not have a ‘dream team’ in Marquez and Acosta, as the two personalities could clash in the garage as they fight at the top of MotoGP.
Tension between Marquez and Acosta is entirely possible, but it is certain to be an exciting and entertaining partnership, that is, if the rumours about the KTM star are true.
