Marco Bezzecchi has extended his contract with Aprilia until at least the end of the 2028 MotoGP season.

The Italian has become the second rider to officially confirm his spot on the 2027 grid, with Johann Zarco having signed a new two-year deal with LCR Honda in 2025.

Bezzecchi has put pen to paper on a multi-year deal with Aprilia. Massimo Rivola made it his priority to tie down the 27-year-old to a new contract before the 2026 season got underway.

Bezzecchi took over as lead rider at the Noale outfit after Jorge Martin’s injury struggles last year. With his help and technical feedback, the Italian propelled Aprilia into a race-winning outfit, grabbing three wins and nine podiums.

Yamaha had ‘courted’ Marco Bezzecchi before he extended his Aprilia contract

Aprilia now look set to be active on the MotoGP rider market in 2026. Jorge Martin will join Yamaha in 2027, coming in as Fabio Quartararo’s replacement.

Tying down Bezzecchi was critical for the Noale outfit, given his strong form in 2025. It is not surprising to hear that several rivals were looking at the Italian for the 2027 season.

According to a report from GPOne, Bezzecchi was recently ‘courted’ by Yamaha. It would have seen the Iwata outfit poach both of Aprilia’s riders for the 2027 campaign.

However, Bezzecchi has opted to stay with the Noale outfit. It leaves their Japanese rivals having to explore other options, with Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia also being linked with Yamaha.

Honda also made a ‘tempting’ offer to Marco Bezzecchi

Yamaha were not the only team to approach Bezzecchi. It was previously reported by GPOne that Honda ‘already made a move’ for the Italian.

Quartararo will join Honda in 2027 from Yamaha, and the Japanese giants are now weighing up their options for his teammate.

Bezzecchi was among them, with the team reportedly making a ‘tempting’ offer. However, it was not quite enticing enough, as the Aprilia rider will stay put in 2027.

With their star rider tied down, the Noale outfit can now focus on signing his teammate. Enea Bastianini is Aprilia’s ‘priority’, but Bagnaia is also an option.
