Marc Marquez predicts Alex Marquez at Ducati and Pedro Acosta to join Honda for 2027
In a video posted to MotoGP’s social media channels, Marc Marquez pins the faces of all of the riders in with a chance of securing a seat for 2027 onto a board filled with the respective teams.
The Spaniard predicts that there will be three rookies in next year’s term, with David Alonso, Daniel Holgado and Celestino Vietti being placed at Gresini, Tech3 and VR46, respectively.
He thinks each of the rookies will be paired up with Fermin Aldeguer, Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini.
In terms of the factory seats, Marquez’s prediction of the Ducati line-up for MotoGP’s new era of regulations is where it gets interesting.
The 32-year-old places his younger brother, Alex Marquez, there, before deliberating between Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta for the seat alongside him.
He initially slots Acosta in, before changing his mind and opting for Francesco Bagnaia to remain at Borgo Panigale instead.
Martin is instead placed at Honda, alongside Joan Mir, while Fabio Quartararo is pitted alongside Marco Bezzecchi at Aprilia.
Maverick Vinales is slotted in at KTM as per recent reports suggesting he will be, with Brad Binder keeping his spot at the Austrian constructor.
Finally, Marquez believes the Yamaha line-up will consist of Alex Rins together with Toprak Razgatlioglu, who is understood to be the Japanese constructor’s ‘dream’ option.
Does MotoGP need to introduce a transfer window?
Is Marc Marquez bluffing with his 2027 Ducati line-up prediction?
Now, with recent reports suggesting that Acosta will be partnering with Marquez at Ducati for the 2027 MotoGP campaign, the reigning world champion’s prediction of Borgo Panigale’s flag-bearers should be taken with a grain of salt.
What’s more, Marquez didn’t place himself in any team on the grid. Whether that’s a hint at retirement or a refusal to fuel the current flames of the rumour mill remains to be seen, but initially playing into Acosta joining Ducati is certainly interesting.
Much has been speculated over a potential partnership between Marquez and Acosta, with the dynamic between the two highly ambitious riders being a topic of contention.
It would be a fascinating teammate pairing, and could even go as far as being a passing of the torch for Acosta if the 32-year-old does opt to call it quits on his active riding career soon.
