Luigi Dall’Igna explains what ‘undoubtedly’ makes Marc Marquez a difficult Ducati teammate

Marc Marquez has been untouchable in 2025, with none of his Ducati colleagues having an answer to his dominance.

The Borgo Panigale outfit has continued to show their dominance in MotoGP this season, winning all but two races thus far. Of those 16 Grand Prix wins, 11 have come from Marquez.

Brother Alex Marquez and Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia has two victories each, while Fermin Aldeguer won his first MotoGP race at Mandalika. Marc Marquez has been almost unbeatable on the GP25, while his fellow Ducati riders have struggled with the machine.

Bagnaia and Fabio Di Giannantonio have not found the same feeling as the Ant of Cervera has on the GP25. The former, in particular, has been extremely vocal about his struggles with the bike, with Bagnaia becoming despondent in media debriefs.

Marc Marquez is ‘undoubtedly’ a difficult teammate at Ducati due to how strong he is on the bike

Many expected Bagnaia to fight closely with Marquez in 2025, having won 11 out of 20 races last year on the GP24. But on the GP25, while the difference between its predecessor is not as significant as previously thought, he is being convincingly beaten by riders on the year-old machine.

Bagnaia has demanded answers from Ducati after he crashed out from last place at Mandalika. The problem that Italian has found in 2025 is that he is up against Marquez, who has dominated every teammate he has faced and can adapt to any bike almost seamlessly.

Speaking via Diario AS on a documentary about Marquez’s 2025 title win, Luigi Dall’Igna admits that Marquez is ‘undoubtedly’ a difficult teammate. However, this is not because he antagonises the rider on the other side of the garage.

“Marc is undoubtedly a difficult teammate, not because he does anything to make his teammate, or fellow riders uncomfortable, but simply because he is very strong on that bike,” he explained.

“With this bike, he has no rival. It is difficult to predict what will happen tomorrow because the riders around him are very strong, so we will see what happens.”

Marc Marquez has dominated with Ducati, but he is ‘missing’ things in his data

With his current level of performance, it is hard to imagine Marquez having anything wrong with his riding. However, that is exactly what some Ducati riders have found.

Fermin Aldeguer says Marquez is ‘missing’ things in all parts of his riding when looking at his data. This is not the first time the Gresini rider has made this sort of comment – Aldeguer previously said he does not find anything ‘stratospheric’ from Marquez’s data.

Davide Tardozzi claims that Marquez is not as fast as he was at Honda, which may explain this gap in his telemetry. But even with this drop off in pace due to his injuries, the Spaniard is still the dominant force in the premier class.

Marquez wrapped up the 2025 title at Motegi. He will miss the next two races at Phillip Island and Sepang after suffering fractured ligaments in his right collarbone after a crash with Marco Bezzecchi in Indonesia.
