Fermin Aldeguer’s agent, Hector Faubel, has issued a verdict on his client’s chances of a factory Ducati seat after claiming an “incredible” maiden win in MotoGP at the Grand Prix of Indonesia.

In the midst of an already impressive rookie season in the premier class, Aldeguer was emotional as he celebrated with his team after taking the chequered flag for the first time in his MotoGP career.

The 20-year-old didn’t put a foot wrong all race, dispatching Pedro Acosta in the opening laps and stretching out a lead of nearly seven seconds to his compatriot behind.

Aldeguer one-upped his previous best finish of second place in the current campaign, with his feat at Mandalika marking his third top-three finish of the year.

Hector Faubel responds to a question regarding Fermin Aldeguer’s chances of a factory Ducati seat

After Aldeguer was overlooked for a factory Ducati bike in favour of his Gresini teammate Alex Marquez, the result in Indonesia raised questions over the Borgo Panigale-based team’s decision to go back on their previous commitment to the youngster.

The Murcian rider is expected to ride for the factory team in the future, after team boss Luigi Dall’Igna predicted Aldeguer to be the future of Ducati following his second podium of the season in Austria.

Speaking to AS after the chequered flag in Indonesia, Aldeguer’s agent, Hector Faubel, was asked if the win had aided his client’s chances of securing a seat at the red-liveried team in the future.

The former Grand Prix motorcycle rider replied, “This question isn’t for me, because if it were up to me, I’d say absolutely yes.

“It’s not up to me. We’re trying. You know, I try everything until the very last moment. I can be a bit of a watchdog.”

Following Dall’Igna’s comments about the youngest current rider in the stable, Michael Laverty highlighted Aldeguer as being destined to lead the factory Ducati outfit in the future.

The future certainly looks bright for the 20-year-old.

Hector Faubel highlighted Fermin Aldeguer and Pedro Acosta’s “incredible” race for a Murcian one-two

Acosta finishing behind Aldeguer also marked the first time that the pair completed a Murcian one-two finish in their short premier class careers so far.

The two riders previously finished one-two twice during their tenures in the Moto2 class, with Aldeguer taking the wins in both instances.

Faubel drew attention to the fact during his comments to AS, saying, “Pedro knows Fermin very well, and although they’re rivals, they’ve been friends all their lives, and rivalry is good because they’re going to give us a lot of fun at the races.

“Their one-two finish is good for everyone in Murcia. They both had an incredible race, and I personally congratulated Pedro and his family. We have to enjoy this. We’re privileged to be where we are. We have to enjoy it, life goes by.”

Despite making the move up to MotoGP a year earlier than the satellite Ducati rider, Acosta is yet to score his first win in the premier class, partly due to the sub-optimal KTM machinery that he has ridden atop throughout his career.

Echoing the comments of Faubel, there is no doubt that the two Murcian riders will give us some thrilling battles in the years to come.
