Fermin Aldeguer has the perfect rider to learn from as a MotoGP rookie at Ducati, with him having access to Marc Marquez’s data.
The Gresini rider has used it to his advantage in 2025. Aldeguer has found he is stronger in the final laps of races after looking at Marquez’s telemetry, evidenced by his performance in Austria, as he gained on the champion by a second a lap in the closing stages.
He would not get close enough for victory on that occasion, but that magic result has now arrived for the Spaniard. Aldeguer claimed his maiden MotoGP win at Mandalika, dominating the race after a poor start from polesitter Marco Bezzecchi.
The 20-year-old, who is now the second-youngest winner in premier class history, has been hugely impressive on the GP24 this season. Aldeguer has certainly benefited from having several experienced riders next to him at Ducati.
Although interestingly, Aldeguer has not seen anything ‘stratospheric’ from Marquez’s telemetry. In fact, he has even found areas where the seven-time MotoGP champion is ‘missing’ something.

Speaking to the Motorbike Magazine YouTube channel, the Gresini rider explained how he can see all of the Ducati riders’ data in the garage. He can compare how teammate Alex Marquez and Marc Marquez are to him, and where they are possibly lacking.
“I’m one of those people who likes to pay attention to specific things, but not go crazy, meaning not to spend two hours in front of the computer comparing, looking, seeing a little where I’m making the big mistakes, trying to improve it, but above all guiding myself by my feelings,” said Aldeguer.
“Well, as we say at Ducati, between 8:00 am, from the moment the bike enters the pit, whether it’s in the middle of training, whatever, everything is connected.
“So you can see almost in real time what the other riders are doing, and it really helps to get ahead on all that work, which maybe in Moto 2, well, you can only watch with your teammate when he’s coming in, or you can’t watch with the people next to you, whatever.
“And well, I could look a little like Alex Márquez on the right-hand corners and a little like Marc on the left-hand corners.
“Well, it’s not a bad combination, it’s not a bad combination, but it’s missing a bit in each of the parts, but well, it has a similarity.”

Fermin Aldeguer is being lined up to partner with Marc Marquez at Ducati
Aldeguer is seen as the future of Ducati in MotoGP, with the Borgo Panigale outfit protecting him as an exceptional talent. He is eyeing a factory seat in the next few years.
Alex Marquez will get a factory bike in 2026, despite his teammate having a clause in his contract that would give him that slot. Aldeguer says Marquez deserves the GP26; it should not dishearten him about his prospects.
Aldeguer’s agent is eyeing a Ducati seat in 2027, with the MotoGP rider market throwing up numerous possibilities with most riders out of contract next season. His victory at Mandalika could have increased his chances of partnering with Marquez.
Mat Oxley thinks Aldeguer is stronger than Marquez in cornering speed. The Spaniard is certainly showing his potential in his rookie season and looks to be in a good position to race for the factory team, especially as tensions arise between Ducati and Francesco Bagnaia.
