Fermin Aldeguer has made history as he secured his first MotoGP win at the Indonesian Grand Prix.
The 20-year-old has established himself as the strongest rookie in 2025 with some standout performances on the year-old GP24 with Gresini. He scored two podiums before Mandalika, finishing third at Le Mans and second in Austria.
Aldeguer almost claimed victory at Spielberg as he hounded Marc Marquez in the final laps, but had to settle for runner-up. His performances have left many thinking that a magic result was on the cards; it came at the Indonesian Grand Prix.
Aldeguer qualified second behind Marco Bezzecchi at Mandalika as he stood as the only Ducati rider in the top six. The Spaniard looked set to win the Sprint race after the Aprilia rider dropped back off the start, but Bezzecchi clawed his way back to take victory.

History repeated itself on Sunday as Bezzecchi fell back again off the start, handing the lead to Aldeguer. The Gresini rider was waiting for the Italian to mount another challenge, but it would not come, as Bezzecchi crashed into Marquez, taking both out of the race.
As several riders battled for second, Aldeguer enjoyed a comfortable race at the front, cruising to victory by over six seconds. The 20-year-old is now the second-youngest race winner in MotoGP, behind Marquez.
The Gresini rider received high praise up and down the paddock from several colleagues and key figures. Among them was 2024 champion Jorge Martin, who watched from the sidelines after he broke his collarbone at Motegi.
Writing on his Instagram story, Martin sent his congratulations to Aldeguer after his win at Mandalika, as he wrote: “Congrats brooo!”

Aldeguer’s crew chief Frankie Carchedi reacted to his rider’s maiden MotoGP win on X (formerly Twitter) as he wrote: “What a weekend!!! What a ride!!!! Been coming….! This weekend the last part of the jigsaw fell in to place.”
The victory is proof that Aldeguer is a serious talent for the future, and Ducati knows what kind of rider they have on their books.
The 20-year-old was contacted to have a factory bike in 2026. However, it is teammate Alex Marquez who will ride the GP26 next season, with him sitting second in the championship ahead of Francesco Bagnaia.
Aldeguer’s performance may have raised questions in Ducati, as he outqualified and beat the GP25 riders. It will leave the Borgo Panigale outfit scratching their heads as he outperformed Marquez on the GP24.
