Marc Marquez has delivered some of his very best MotoGP form for Ducati during the 2025 season.
He’s set to wrap up a seventh premier class crown within the next few weeks, with a handful of events still left this year. Marquez has been virtually unstoppable, while his rivals have failed to find an answer for his talents on the track.
When Ducati signed him, even they might not have been able to dream that he could still deliver to such an exceptional level. By the end of the campaign, many more MotoGP records will have fallen, and the Spaniard will be the official benchmark once again.
Jorge Lorenzo noticed something ‘quite conservative’ from Marquez in a battle with his brother at the recent Catalan Grand Prix. He thinks he wasn’t very aggressive, but that didn’t stop Marquez from making one ‘terrifying’ comment during the weekend.

Sete Gibernau questions Marc Marquez’s mental management in Valentino Rossi ‘GOAT’ debate
Marquez disagrees with Luigi Dall’Igna and cannot say that he is the sole reason the Italian manufacturer have not won more titles, due to his dominance with Honda. He doesn’t know whether he would have won as much on a Ducati.
Now that he’s getting older, cracks may start to appear in his technique. Marquez revealed his ‘weak point’ recently, but Sete Gibernau believes that one specific trait holds him back in the ‘GOAT’ (Greatest of all time) debate against Valentino Rossi.
“There are some irrefutable facts, and for the rest, there will be those who are bigger fans of Marc and bigger fans of Valentino,” he told Diario AS.
“What I believe is that you have to enjoy Marc, because it’s admirable that a person who has been through what Marc has been through is doing what he’s doing.
“The only doubt anyone might have about him is whether he’s capable of mentally managing his situation, but the talent… anyone who has ever questioned Marc’s talent doesn’t understand much of what’s being talked about.”

How close Marc Marquez is to breaking his next MotoGP record with Ducati
Unfortunately, Marquez fell short in his pursuit of 10 consecutive Grand Prix victories at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, finishing on seven. The record, which he set with Honda in 2014, looks as though it may never be broken.
The next record to fall is probably going to arrive in two races’ time at the San Marino Grand Prix, when he beats Rossi’s record to become the oldest champion of all time by two years (32). He will also draw level with him in premier class titles.
After that, he could break his own record for the most points scored in Grands Prix during a season, before stretching out the modern-era record for most points in a campaign, including sprint races.
