Marc Marquez’s move to the factory Ducati team in 2025 was met with huge expectations as he eyed a seventh MotoGP title. He has certainly exceeded them as he dominates the championship.
The Spanish rider joined the Borgo Panigale outfit from the satellite team Gresini, having left Honda in 2024 after years of struggling with injury. Carlo Pernat doubted that Marquez would return to form, but he has silenced his critics in 2025.
Marquez has won 26 out of 31 races thus far, winning the Sprint at the Catalan Grand Prix this weekend. He has won every race since the British GP, taking his tally to 15 consecutive victories.
His Sprint win at his home race at Montmelo secured the constructors’ title for Ducati, their sixth in a row and seventh overall. The manufacturer has been utterly dominant in MotoGP in recent years, and Marquez has helped continue that streak.

Marc Marquez ‘cannot say’ that he is the reason why Ducati have not won as many championships as their rivals
Luigi Dall’Igna has been wowed by Marquez’s performances, claiming that he has ‘never’ seen anything like it in the premier class. The 32-year-old leads the championship by 187 points over his brother Alex Marquez.
Dall’Igna believes that Marquez is the reason Ducati have won fewer championships than Japanese rivals Yamaha and Honda, who have 14 and 25 titles respectively to the Borgo Panigale outfit’s seven. But the Spaniard does not agree.
Speaking via ServusTV, he said that Ducati were already winning when he joined the team and that he took the opportunity with both hands as he now had the strongest bike in the field.
Asked if he is the reason Ducati are at the top, he replied: “I cannot say that, because Ducati, when I arrived at Ducati, Ducati already won [the] last four years.
“When Ducati gave me the opportunity, I approached that opportunity like a rookie rider. I need to show them that I deserve that bike.
“And then what I did and what I’m trying to do, because like this, for 2027 and 2028, I want to be on the best bike possible and if you are there on the top, then you can have more options.
“I’m super happy Ducati gave me that opportunity. I was looking for the winning bike and I feel super comfortable.”

Marc Marquez claims another win in 2025 at the Catalan GP as Francesco Bagnaia’s woes continue
Marquez is in touching distance of the 2025 title after winning the Sprint at Montmelo. If results go his way in the Grand Prix on Sunday, he could wrap up the championship at the next race at Misano.
Alex Marquez handed victory to his brother after he crashed from the lead with four laps to go. The Gresini rider will have another chance to keep Marc Marquez behind as he starts on pole position, with the Ducati rider in third.
Meanwhile, teammate Francesco Bagnaia will line up P21 after his worst qualifying in MotoGP in three years. It has been a disastrous weekend for the Italian as he has been considerably off the pace, only managing 14th in the Sprint.
Marquez says the media are not helping Bagnaia as he is ‘constantly being questioned’ about his struggles. The two-time champion has not adapted to the GP25 and seems to have no answers for his problems.
