Marc Marquez may be the king of MotoGP today, but he now believes the three riders who will define the premier class’ “future” alongside Jorge Martin are already evident.

The 2025 MotoGP season will be remembered as the year of Marquez, with the Ducati rider running riot en route to a seventh premier class title. Glory could await the Spaniard as soon as the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano on September 12-14 in round 16 of this season’s 22.

Ducati can have no regrets about their decision to sign Marquez over Martin for this season, given the results the 32-year-old is taking aboard a Desmosedici GP25. The Cervera native has won 10 of the 14 Grands Prix so far and stood on 12 podiums, along with 13 Sprint wins.

Marquez stepped up from Gresini after Ducati pulled a U-turn on signing Martin, who would join Aprilia for 2025 after winning the 2024 riders’ title on a Desmosedici GP24 with Pramac. Injuries derailed Martin’s first year with Aprilia, who he tried to leave to join Honda for 2026.

Marc Marquez sees Jorge Martin, Pedro Acosta, Marco Bezzecchi and Fermin Aldeguer as MotoGP’s ‘future’

Marquez is adamant that Martin is one of the riders who are “destined” to define the future of MotoGP. The 27-year-old joined Aprilia for what is his fifth term on the premier class grid, and he has eight career Grand Prix wins from 78 races, 32 podiums and 20 pole positions.

Ducati racer Marquez believes Martin’s Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi is also one of the riders who will shape MotoGP’s future, along with KTM ace Pedro Acosta and Gresini rookie Fermin Aldeguer. Bezzecchi is in his fourth MotoGP season, and Acosta is in his second year.

“In MotoGP, a Martin, a Bezzecchi, an Acosta and an Aldeguer have now come together,” he said, via quotes by Motorsport.com “They are destined to mark the MotoGP of the future.”

Bezzecchi has secured podiums in four of the past five Grands Prix to reach 14 in his career, which has yielded four wins over his 74 MotoGP races. Ducati view Aldeguer as their future, too, after reaching two podiums in his first 14 races, including P2 in the Austrian Grand Prix.

Marquez especially sees a very bright future for Acosta, and believes his Spanish compatriot will have his pick of MotoGP teams when his contract at KTM expires after the 2026 season. Acosta angled for a move to VR46 earlier this year, but he has agreed to honour his contract.

Marquez said about the idea of Acosta on a Ducati: “It’s unknown. What I believe is that if he continues doing what he’s doing, in a year and a half, he’ll be able to go to any brand he wants. He has a great future ahead of him, he’s shown it [and] he’s got a lot of talent.”

KTM dropped Jack Miller to put Acosta in their factory line-up for the 2025 MotoGP season after overseeing his entire world championship career to date. Acosta won the 2021 Moto3 title as a rookie with KTM Ajo, with whom he won the Moto2 title at his second try in 2023.

Acosta has continued to impress since he debuted in MotoGP with GASGAS Tech3 in 2024, as well. The 21-year-old secured five podiums and one pole position in 19 races as a rookie last year. Acosta has secured two Grand Prix and two Sprint podiums for KTM this year, too.
