The feud between Fabio di Giannantonio and Pedro Acosta has been a continual storyline throughout the 2025 MotoGP season since the Spaniard’s actions at the Dutch Grand Prix.

The war of words began after Pedro Acosta posed in front of a VR46 sponsor wall within the Assen paddock in June.

The stunt came amid reports of the Spaniard desiring to swap his KTM Factory Team for a Ducati bike with VR46. Diggia called Acosta out for it at the time, stating that it is ‘not nice to talk so much about another brand’ while still in the midst of a campaign with another team.

Acosta brushed off di Giannantonio’s comments at the German Grand Prix, telling him to ‘take life with a little more humour’ in reference to his photo opportunity in the Netherlands.

Fabio di Giannantonio calls for Pedro Acosta to ‘show respect’ to his team in response to German GP comments

Speaking to MowMag during the Czech Republic Grand Prix weekend, Diggia spoke on the ongoing feud with Acosta, stating, “I have nothing against him and I know full well it was a joke.”

However, the Italian doubled down on his original comments, continuing, “If I made jokes in front of my publicist or if my team saw my jokes on television about another team, I think they’d be offended.

“But even my mechanic, for example, would be upset. It was just that, a call to show respect to the people who work for him. But that’s how it is, a bit of drama.”

Di Giannantonio finished by saying he doesn’t ‘accept’ the 21-year-old’s suggestion of lightening up, but does realise the fact that there isn’t anything he can do about it and hopes ‘things change’.

A move in 2026 is unlikely for Pedro Acosta, but VR46 aren’t ruling out the possibility of signing him for 2027

VR46 team boss Uccio Salucci recently talked about the links with Acosta, stating that it is unlikely for the team to sign the rider in time for 2026.

Acosta’s current contract at KTM is set to expire at the end of next season, with his future uncertain as MotoGP enters its new era with new regulations set to come into effect for the 2027 season.

Salucci explained that he can ‘never say never’ about the possibility of acquiring the 21-year-old’s talents, but appreciates that someone of Acosta’s potential will probably end up at a factory team, whether it is Yamaha, Honda or Ducati.

The former Moto3 and Moto2 champion signed a new two-year deal with KTM after his rookie campaign with the Austrian team during the 2024 MotoGP championship.
