As the dominant constructor since the start of the new decade, Ducati have to be viewed as one of the most attractive options for upcoming riders who want to compete at the very top of the premier class.
The 2025 riders’ standings evidently show why, with all six Ducati bikes occupying positions within the top eight. With most of the Ducati riders out of contract at the end of 2026, there are sure to be some seats up for grabs as MotoGP enters its new era of regulations in 2027.
| Position | Rider | Team | Points |
| 1 | Marc Marquez | Ducati Lenovo | 455 |
| 2 | Alex Marquez | Gresini Racing | 280 |
| 3 | Francesco Bagnaia | Ducati Lenovo | 228 |
| 6 | Franco Morbidelli | VR46 Racing | 161 |
| 7 | Fabio Di Giannantonio | VR46 Racing | 154 |
| 8 | Fermin Aldegeur | Gresini Racing | 126 |
Aside from Marc Marquez’s sheer dominance at the top of the standings, Fermin Aldeguer has impressed during his rookie season in MotoGP, and currently sits in eighth place of the championship with 126 points.
Ducati boss Luigi Dall’Igna thinks it’s ‘impossible’ to rule out Aldeguer from joining the factory team one day, in a testament to the young Spaniard’s breakout season in MotoGP with Gresini.

Ducati are setting its sights on Moto2 star David Alonso for a 2027 seat
According to a report from MOW, Ducati are eyeing another youngster who could one day play a leading role in the factory Ducati’s future in the sport.
David Alonso has been mightily impressive in his debut season in Moto2 this year, with the Colombian rider finally taking his maiden chequered flag in the intermediate class at the most recent race weekend in Hungary.

Dall’Igna is a big fan of the 19-year-old, with it being reported that the Italian engineer never fails to find the time to watch every lower-class race in hopes of spotting the next star for the Borgo Panigale-based team.
The report states that Dall’Igna has ‘chosen’ Alonso after watching so many of his races, hinting that the young Colombian could soon find a ‘red carpet’ rolled out for him to join the iconic Ducati outfit.
Aldeguer is still first in line for Ducati, but the team do have one eye on their post-Marquez future, hinting at a possible new-look line-up in 2027 which features both Alonso and Aldeguer.

David Alonso currently trains with MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez
Marquez is another member of the Ducati set-up who is a big fan of the Colombian rider. The two riders currently train together in between race weekends, and Marquez has already compared Alonso to his own Moto2 career.
Alonso once made Marquez cry whilst in Moto3 after the youngster wrote a letter to himself detailing his future aspirations and where he wants to see himself in 10 years.
After reports emerged that he currently has the pick of any brand he wants, he has to be certain that MotoGP will be in the picture at some point.
Alonso currently sits in 14th place in the Moto2 standings in his rookie season, with the win in Hungary marking his first in the class. The move up to the intermediate class came after his dominant Moto3 championship win in the year prior, where he won 14 of the 20 races in his second full season.
