Marc Marquez is a great example and mentor for many aspiring riders who want to reach MotoGP one day.

The story of his comeback is inspirational, and the way he has set about dominating with Ducati this season is also admirable.

Marquez looks set to claim a seventh premier class title this year, six campaigns on from his final triumph with Honda.

Soon, attention will turn to the next generation of MotoGP riders tasked with dethroning the rider who is on course to become the greatest of all time.

Marquez looks like he’s ‘freaking out’ after races this season, but it might be down to his level of performance.

After taking some time to watch other categories, Marquez is ‘reminded’ of himself in a 14-race Moto2 star, who is beginning to attract a lot of attention.

David Alonso is receiving offers from ‘all the brands’ in MotoGP after making Marc Marquez cry

While Marquez was ‘surprised’ at the Hungarian Grand Prix, he was also delighted to watch a special talent in Moto2 claim his first victory.

David Alonso is not long into his Moto2 career, and has just 14 races under his belt and is attracting all sorts of attention from MotoGP teams.

According to GPOne, he made Marquez cry when writing a letter in Moto3 last year, and it’s no surprise that the premier class is starting to take notice of him.

Spanish journalist Mela Chercoles now reports that ‘all the brands’ have already called to ask about Alonso’s availability, showing interest in his talents.

“David Alonso has already been offered a place in MotoGP by all the brands,” he said. “All of them. His representatives are Jorge Martinez, Team Aspar, and Nico Terol. And they tell you that all the brands have already called asking about David Alonso.

“David Alonso will continue in Moto 2 next year. David Alonso is in no hurry to move up to the premier class, but he is next in line.”

How has David Alonso performed in Moto2 during the 2025 season?

At the age of just 19, Alonso has been blindingly fast over the last few years. In 2024, he dominated the Moto3 championship, winning 14 of the 20 races on offer.

He has shown traits akin to Marquez, such as a seven-race consecutive win streak. Now he’s starting to find his feet on a faster bike, he could be trouble.

Sitting 14th in the Moto2 standings isn’t where he would want to be, but he had a frustrating start to the campaign and needs time to develop.

If he can manage not to retire as often, he could be a contender for the title next year. It also depends on what sort of bike CFMoto Aspar Racing gives him.
