The MotoGP silly season is in full swing for 2027, with multiple riders already signing their new contracts. Many top deals stand out, but one KTM rider’s move has gone completely under the radar.
Every fan and expert will be excited by the factory moves for 2027. Pedro Acosta will join Ducati, Francesco Bagnaia is heading to Aprilia, Jorge Martin will be at Yamaha, and Fabio Quartararo is set to join Honda.
At the time of writing, Gresini are the only satellite team to announce their 2027 rider line-ups, while the others scramble to secure their talent. Among the riders who have unofficially confirmed their seat is Enea Bastianini, and he has arguably made the best move on the grid.
Who should fill the 2027 satellite seats?
This is what it's looking like, based on the rumours
Enea Bastianini’s move to Trackhouse is the best move of the 2027 MotoGP silly season
The Italian has struggled to extract top results on KTM machinery since signing for Tech3 in 2025. Bastianini’s woes on the RC16 were so strong that rumours were swirling around that he was trying to break his contract.
This did not come to fruition, but it was obvious that he wanted to leave the KTM setup. KTM did have the option to trigger a 2027 extension, but opted not to take it, allowing Bastianini to leave.
The 28-year-old has been linked with several teams this season, including Pramac and Gresini. The latter looked realistic, with Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali saying Bastianini could return one day, but Joan Mir and Daniel Holgado got the rides instead.

With moves to Yamaha and Ducati off the table, he will find his way to Aprilia in 2027. Bastianini is set to join Trackhouse next year, with Ai Ogura heading to Yamaha with Martin.
Raul Fernandez is set to stay with Trackhouse as Bastianini’s teammate, giving the American team a strong rider pairing. It also marks a brilliant move for the Italian, and it is going unnoticed.
The RS-GP bikes are looking strong in 2026, and given Aprilia’s huge progress in development, they could be well set up for a strong challenge in 2027. That goes especially for Trackhouse, who, at the moment, are outperforming the factory riders.
In the last three races, Ogura and Fernandez have had the better of Martin and Marco Bezzecchi. Trackhouse claimed a 1-2 finish in both races at Assen, and Ogura is now 14 points behind Martin in the standings, with Fernandez in P6.
Which MotoGP rider has been the biggest SURPRISE package in 2026? 😲
Ogura has a serious chance at the title in 2026, and Trackhouse are a team on the up. This, combined with Bastianini’s pace, could make this a match made in heaven.
The Tech3 rider has been performing admirably in 2026, given the tools he has at his disposal at KTM. He is regularly finishing in the top 10, proving that the pace he displayed with Ducati a couple of years ago is still there.
Of course, the 2027 regulations will throw everything in the air and leave everyone guessing about the pecking order. But Trackhouse looks like the team to be at right now, and on an Aprilia, which will certainly only get stronger, Bastianini may have hit the jackpot for next season.
