Enea Bastianini is the 2020 Moto2 world champion and currently competes in MotoGP, so here is everything you need to know about him.
Bastianini first rode a minibike at the age of three, going on to compete in various categories into his teens including 100CC and the MiniGP 70cc Italian Championship.
He was champion of the Honda RS125 Trophy in 2012, then in 2013 Bastianini made the switch to the MotoGP Rookies Cup where he took two victories and finished fourth in the championship.
At the age of 16 he joined the Moto3 grid and finished on the podium three times in his rookie year. In 2015 he challenged for the title with Gresini, taking his first victory on the world stage at Misano and achieving five podiums in the season.
He remained with Gresini for 2016 when he finished second in the championship on Honda machinery, taking 177 points with six podiums.

Enea Bastianini wins Moto2 title
In 2019 he made the switch to Moto2 with Italtrans Racing Team where he finished 10th in his first year having only finished on the podium once, but for the following year that would change.
Staying with the Italtrans Racing Team for 2020, Bastianini went on to challenge for the title with rival Luca Marini. Wins for Bastianini at Jerez and Czech Republic kickstarted his title bid and despite a setback in Austria with a retirement, he would go on to win another race in Italy before finishing on the podium consistently.
The title battle went down to the final race of the season, with Bastianini winning it by just nine points from Marini and Sam Lowes, who finished third on the same points as Marini.

Breakout results enable Enea Bastianini to realise dream in MotoGP
The 2021 season brought a new challenge and became one of the breakout stars of MotoGP despite riding on older machinery with a double podium in Misano.
He would make the switch to Gresini Racing in 2022, claiming four victories in Qatar, Austin, Le Mans and Aragon after a thrilling last lap battle with Francesco Bagnaia. These wins and podiums helped Bastianini clinch third in the title standings at the end of the season.
These standout performances earned him a ride with the Ducati squad in 2023, but this was curtailed when a double shoulder blade injury picked up in Portimao prevented him from progressing into any real threat for the title.
In 2024 his form picked up with two victories and nine podiums, enabling him to finish fourth in the standings. Now in 2025 he makes the switch to Tech3 and will ride a KTM.
