Alex Marquez looked like he was back to his best at the Sachsenring. The Gresini rider has been suffering with injury after his horror crash in Barcelona.
Marc Marquez was stunned by Alex’s work ethic during his recovery, admitting that he did not expect him to work as hard as he did. After returning to MotoGP at Assen, the 30-year-old really took the fight to his brother at the German Grand Prix.

Marc Marquez admits he’s ‘scared’ of Alex Marquez on ‘tight-hand circuits’
The Gresini rider, who will join KTM in 2027, finished P2 in the Sprint after qualifying behind his brother. He kept pace with Marc Marquez throughout the race, but could not make a move for the lead.
Marc Marquez warned Alex he would crash if he maintained that pace during the Grand Prix on Sunday. As it happens, that is exactly what transpired, as the Spaniard lost the bike at the final corner at turn nine.

Neil Hodgson felt Alex Marquez lacked the ‘ability’ to copy Marc through the corners. He had been following closely throughout the Sachsenring, but he was ultimately caught out.
The Ducati rider dominated the German GP, collecting maximum points and closing the gap to Jorge Martin to 18 points in the standings. After the race, he was left praising his brother’s performance.
A behind-the-scenes video from Ducati’s official YouTube channel shows the Marquez brothers embracing in the TV media pen. Marc tells Alex: “Good job! It was difficult with the front…” to which he replies: “Yes, I relaxed a bit.”

Marc then admits that his brother was ‘too fast’ for a left-hand circuit like Sachsenring, and that he fears him on the tight-handers: “Let’s talk later. You were very fast this weekend! Too fast, being a left-hand track… You scare me on tight-hand circuits.”
Alex Marquez will be focused on getting back to 100% fitness over the summer break. He is currently sitting ninth in the standings, 121 points behind championship leader Martin.
