Marc Marquez cruised to victory at the German Grand Prix after Alex Marquez, his nearest challenger in the Sprint race, crashed out.
The Gresini rider had finished less than four tenths behind his brother in the Sprint, but he went down on lap nine out of 30 on Sunday.
With his only realistic competition removed, Marquez easily saw out the victory, eventually crossing the line around two seconds clear of Trackhouse’s Ai Ogura.
Alex Marquez’s ‘lapse of concentration’ costs him vs Marc Marquez
Watching a replay of the accident, TNT Sports pundit Neil Hodgson suggested that Alex made a mistake by trying to emulate Marc’s Sachsenring magic. The factory Ducati rider has now won 10 premier-class races at this circuit.
Comparisons of previous laps between the two showed that Marc was consistently gaining time at the final corner, and Alex may have tried to cancel out that deficit.

The younger Marquez was cautious in the Sprint but paid for taking a risk in the long race.
“Do you know what he’s done?” Hodgson said (12/07, 13:14). “The mistake he’s made is following his brother. Every time into that corner, Marc Marquez gains a tenth. We’ve seen it all weekend.

“It’s a lapse of concentration in any way. He’s braked where his brother has, turned in as his brother has, but unfortunately, doesn’t quite have that ability to get it stopped.”
Marquez Jr has now eclipsed his DNF total for the entire 2025 season (four), when he was the runner-up.
The new KTM signing, who has missed three races through injury, heads into the summer break ninth in the championship. His future teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio also crashed out in what could be a costly moment for his title hopes.
