Alex Marquez missed out on a podium at the German Grand Prix after crashing out on lap nine, and brother Marc Marquez knew it would happen.
The Marquez brothers looked in complete control at the Sachsenring, but it was the red Ducati that led the charge. Marc Marquez won the Sprint ahead of brother Alex on Saturday and dominated the German Grand Prix on Sunday for his third win of 2026.
However, his brother did not join him on the podium. The Gresini rider was close behind Marc in the opening stages, but he slid off the track at the final corner on lap nine, forcing him out of the race.

The Sachsenring is a fast-flowing circuit, and Marc Marquez knew that crashes would be around the corner. He revealed after the German GP that he had told Alex Marquez that riders would crash if they kept up their pace in the Sprint over the full race distance.

“But yesterday, we were talking with Alex, and I said to him, ‘The Sprint was super fast, we were riding super fast. If we keep going like this [for] 30 laps, some of us will crash.’
