Jack Miller’s final hope for a MotoGP ride instantly fades as Trackhouse choose 2027 riders

Pramac rider Jack Miller looks set to be left without a MotoGP ride for 2027 once his Yamaha contract expires, after missing out on a late lifeline to Luca Marini of Honda.

The MotoGP rider market has been in overdrive this year due to most of the 2026 grid being out of contract at the close of the season. Miller only signed a one-year extension to his deal with Yamaha to stay at Pramac last September, while Marini got new terms at Honda in July.

But despite Miller and Marini playing instrumental roles in the development of their brands’ bikes in the final year of the 1,000cc era, they look set to leave Yamaha and Honda’s stables. And it seems that Marini has now beaten Miller to securing a lifeline at Trackhouse for 2027.

Does Jack Miller still have the talent to fight further up the grid?

Miller emerged as a potential option to join Trackhouse for the 2027 MotoGP season during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend. The American squad are believed to be looking for new riders, as Ai Ogura has agreed to join Yamaha in 2027 and Raul Fernandez looks set to leave.

But just as quickly as those reports emerged at Balaton Park, Miller’s final hope for a ride in 2027 appears to have vanished as AS now reports that Trackhouse have chosen Marini. The Italian is now expected to complete Trackhouse’s line-up beside Tech3 rider Enea Bastianini.

The rider market situation is also set to see neither of Miller nor Marini take part in the official 850cc test at Brno following the Czech Grand Prix. Neither Yamaha nor Honda intend to give either rider a chance to sample their bike for next year with their futures now at rival teams.

It materialised in May that Bastianini has accepted an offer to join Trackhouse in 2027, with the Italian not staying at Tech3 despite the team remaining a satellite KTM squad next year. KTM have an option to extend Bastianini’s contract into 2027 but are not expected to use it.

Trackhouse now choosing to sign Marini to partner with Bastianini next year could also see Miller leave MotoGP entirely and move to the World Superbike Championship in 2027. It is considered likely that Miller will join Ducati’s World Superbike team in 2027 if Nicolo Bulega secures a ride in MotoGP on the back of his dominant 2026 WSBK championship campaign.
