Jack Miller has been a fans’ favourite throughout his MotoGP career, in which he has delivered a number of highlight moments since making his debut in the 2015 season.

Honda gave Miller his breakthrough back in 2015 when the Japanese constructor promoted the Australian straight from Moto3 into MotoGP to ride for their satellite crew, LCR. Miller’s career has also taken him to Marc VDS and Pramac, plus the factory Ducati and KTM teams.

Miller also secured a factory Yamaha contract to facilitate his return to Pramac in 2025. The Queensland native first raced for Pramac from 2018 to 2020, during the Tuscan team’s time as a satellite Ducati crew, which led to his move to the works Ducati squad from 2021-2022.

Success has not always been easy to find, but Miller has enjoyed many big moments. With that in mind, MotoGP News takes a look at Miller’s best moments from his MotoGP career.

What is Jack Miller’s best MotoGP race win?

Let us know why in the comments!

Miller had initially qualified P18 at Assen but worked his way through the order to run in P8 before a red flag due to the rain interrupted proceedings. He also took less than half a lap to move into P4 at the restart, before passing Marc Marquez for the lead with nine laps to go.

Marquez was far more cautious in the conditions and had just seen Valentino Rossi crash in the lead of the 2016 Dutch GP before Miller overtook him for P1. Miller’s move at the final chicane ultimately secured his first win in MotoGP, as the Australian pulled clear by 1.991s.

The drama was not over, though, as Honda fined Miller for doing a shooey to celebrate his first MotoGP win after the 2016 Dutch GP. Miller later revealed in 2020 that he chose to do the shooey as a “slight dig” at Honda, who fined him for doing a shooey at a party in 2015.

Jack Miller took his first pole position in MotoGP at the 2018 Argentina Grand Prix

Qualifying has rarely been Jack Miller’s advantage throughout his MotoGP career, as single-lap speed is not one of his biggest strengths. But Miller has pulled a rabbit out of the hat on occasion, including scoring his first MotoGP pole position at the 2018 Argentina Grand Prix.

Miller shocked the MotoGP paddock when he scored his first pole position at Termas, having been one of only three riders with Marc Marquez and Cal Crutchlow to brave slick tyres on a drying track. And, unlike Marquez and Crutchlow, Miller actually set a lap time on slick tyres.

Another surprise situation would follow at the start of the 2018 Argentina GP, as well, as the race would start with Miller on pole and no other riders on the first three rows of the grid. A late rain shower before the start of the race saw the other 23 riders all dive for the pit lane.

Miller was the only rider who stayed on the grid, having felt he could cope with slick tyres as the rain had not soaked the circuit. But MotoGP could not start the 2018 Argentina GP with 23 riders in the pit lane, so it was decided that Miller would have an advantage off the grid.

Jack Miller’s first MotoGP race win in the 2016 Dutch Grand Prix was also his first podium in the premier class. He did not finish higher than P11 during his rookie campaign in 2015, and he also did not finish higher than P7 except for when he won at the TT Circuit Assen in 2016.

Where did Jack Miller take his best win in MotoGP?

Jack Miller only has a handful of MotoGP Grand Prix victories to choose from when picking his best race win to date. But his debut victory in the 2016 Dutch Grand Prix at Assen is one that his fans will always remember, having overcome difficult conditions and Marc Marquez.

The 2022 Japanese Grand Prix also saw Miller at his best, as the Australian won for Ducati at Motegi by 3.409s over KTM’s Brad Binder. Miller got a good start from P7 on the grid and he immediately set about overtaking Marc Marquez and Miguel Oliveira to end Lap 1/24 in P3.

Binder had no reply for Miller’s Ducati along the back straight when they tussled over P2 on L2, as well. And Turn 11 was his hunting ground again on Lap 3, as Miller slotted his bike up the inside of Pramac’s Jorge Martin for the lead and he did not look over his shoulder again.
