Luigi Dall’Igna has revealed what he instantly ‘realised’ about Marc Marquez after the factory Ducati move.

Marquez, 33, joined the Ducati family when he left Honda ahead of the 2024 MotoGP season.

The Spaniard raced for Ducati satellite team Gresini Racing before joining the factory team in 2025.

Since then, Marquez has won the MotoGP world title once, which came last year when he finished ahead of his brother Alex Marquez and Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi.

Being a seven-time world champion, Marquez is often regarded as one of the greatest MotoGP riders of all time.

Speaking recently at a team sponsor event in Milan, Italy, Ducati boss Dall’Igna revealed that he was instantly impressed by Marquez’s ‘exceptional skills’. 

The Italian added that Marquez does not blame anyone when things go wrong, and he is someone people can learn a lot from.

As reported by Spanish news outlet Marca, Dall’Igna said: “As soon as I arrived, I realised he had exceptional skills, that he could do things no one else could.

“And I must say I discovered a fantastic person, someone who inspires you, who knows how to motivate everyone and who never blames anyone. He’s someone you can learn a great deal from.”

In 2026, Marquez has struggled, having only collected 57 points from the opening six races, putting him ninth in the world championship standings.

During the French Grand Prix weekend, Marquez suffered a huge crash and later confirmed that he would be going under the knife again.

Ahead of this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix in Mugello, it has been confirmed that Marquez will make a return for Ducati.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Marquez said, via Crash: “The recovery is progressing as planned.

“I’ve gone back to training normally over the last few days and I will be on track mainly to test my actual feelings and physical condition aboard the Desmosedici GP.

“Both surgeries went well, but we are proceeding with all due caution and with the final medical checks at the track.

“Mugello is an incredible track, to be honest also a very demanding one, but the support of all the Ducatisti will be an extra motivational booster to do well.”
