Senna Agius is speaking to multiple MotoGP teams for the 2027 season, and now KTM could have just handed him the perfect chance to join the grid with Tech3.
The Australian Moto2 rider has been linked with several teams on the grid, including Trackhouse and Pramac. KTM have been another team interested, and they could now have a seat for him.
It was initially reported that KTM could open their second seat to Agius to partner with Alex Marquez, but Fabio Di Giannantonio is set to take the seat. Satellite team Tech3 are yet to confirm their 2027 riders, but the 20-year-old now stands a strong chance of joining the team.

KTM ‘will not exercise’ the option to retain Enea Bastianini – the door is open for Senna Agius
Multiple riders are in the running for a seat at Tech3 in 2027. Looking at riders’ contracts, Enea Bastianini arguably stands the best chance, as KTM have the option to extend his deal until next year.
Bastianini has agreed to join Trackhouse in 2027, with whom Agius has also been in talks, but KTM could block the deal if they wanted. However, that now looks unlikely.

According to a report from Speedweek, KTM ‘will not exercise’ the option to extend Bastianini’s contract, thus allowing him to move to Trackhouse. It also opens a seat up at Tech3, which Agius can now take.
The Aussie is a firm title contender in Moto2 this season, winning two races already and sitting fourth in the standings. If he keeps this form up, he is certain to land a MotoGP seat, and with KTM having a seat available, it is the golden ticket to the premier class.

Senna Agius faces huge competition to land Tech3 seat in 2027
While Bastianini’s pending Tech3 exit gives Agius a huge chance to get to MotoGP, it is not a given that he will land the seat.
Multiple riders are in contention for the seat. Brad Binder could join Tech3 and step down from the factory team, with Bastianini’s exit making it more likely that he stays in MotoGP.
Have Tech3 made the right decision by remaining with KTM for 2027?
Maverick Vinales has also escaped the ‘blacklist’ and could not be offered a contract. He had been lined up to join KTM in 2027, but his injuries and poor start to the season put his future in doubt.
Binder and Vinales are well-established riders and will be tough competition for Agius. But Tech3 do want a young rider next to an experienced head, which does give him an advantage.
