Jorge Martin is currently at a hospital in Barcelona after crashing during Aprilia’s testing at Montmelo.

The red flags were waved at Montmelo yet again, as Aprilia rider Jorge Martin had a crash at Turn 7 during testing after the Catalan Grand Prix.

Martin was immediately taken to the circuit’s medical centre, where he was evaluated for injuries to his left elbow and right leg.

Jorge Martin set to be evaluated at Barcelona hospital

According to MotoGP reporter Rosario Triolo, the Aprilia rider’s crash comes less than 24 hours after one of the most chaotic races in recent MotoGP history.

The Catalan Grand Prix had to be stopped by red flags due to Alex Marquez’s brutal crash yesterday, following which the race was resumed again.

The second start led to another crash involving Johann Zarco and Luca Marini. In fact, Zarco reportedly injured his leg and had to be taken to the hospital, just like Marquez had been.

There has been a lot of talk about the safety standards in MotoGP, with even the Catalan Grand Prix circuit coming under scrutiny.

Hopefully, Martin hasn’t sustained any serious injuries, but we will have to wait on more updates to know more.

Was it right to restart the Catalan GP after two big accidents?

Jorge Martin confirmed to have no fractures after examination

In an update from Triolo, it was revealed that Martin has suffered no fractures from his crash at Montmelo and is currently recovering in the hospital.

This will come as a huge relief not just for Aprilia, but for all of MotoGP. Many felt that the race yesterday would force Liberty Media to take actions to improve rider safety.

And while that should still be a priority, having yet another accident during testing would have only put MotoGP officials under more pressure.

Martin had safety issues in his earlier crash over the weekend, so it is good to see that he has been able to end his time in Barcelona without any serious damage sustained.
