Jorge Martin pushing Aprilia team boss Paolo Bonora has not gone down well among MotoGP fans at all.

Martin ended up with a DNF after the second race restart, following Alex Marquez’s brutal crash, which forced the first red flag at the Catalan Grand Prix

The Spanish rider had the opportunity to take the lead in the championship over his Aprilia teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, which he lost after a crash with Raul Fernandez.

Martin was understandably frustrated after the crash. But in the heat of the moment, he appeared to push away several Aprilia officials, including team director Paolo Bonora.

This act from the Spanish rider has upset a lot of fans, with many believing any efforts from Aprilia to retain Martin should be abandoned immediately.

MotoGP fans think Jorge Martin must ‘control his nerves’ after pushing Paolo Bonora

After the race, a clip of Jorge Martin entering the Aprilia garage and pushing Paolo Bonora went viral, with several MotoGP fans taking notice.

One fan compared his attitude to his mentor, Aleix Espargaro, noting, “This is just Aleix all over again!”

Another fan joked about Martin’s impending move to Yamaha, saying, “Imagine how angry he’s gonna be when Massimo Rivola drops him off at Yamaha.”

“[Martin] needs to control his nerves. We are not even halfway through the season,” said a third fan frustrated with the Aprilia rider’s outburst.

A fourth fan urged Aprilia to reconsider their stance on Martin, claiming, “Perhaps don’t try to keep him next season after all!”

Yet another fan echoed these sentiments about Martin, writing, “The same rider that wanted to turn his back on this team last year! Get him out… Such an attitude and inflated ego!”

“I understand the frustration but why take it out on your team?” asked a fan who disapproved of Martin’s actions.

One fan called for Martin to face serious consequences, saying, “I hope he’s gonna get fired! He yelled at Massimo?!”

While one final fan called Martin out for not respecting his team, noting, “Traitor, wouldn’t want him in my garage!”

Jorge Martin apologised to Paolo Bonora and Aprilia officials

Speaking to reporters after the race, Martin explained his reaction and admitted he was out of line to push his teammates and officials.

“I pushed him because I was so frustrated about the situation. I will improve. Disappointed about my reaction but I was really hot about what happened.”

Perhaps this will lead to some reconsideration from Aprilia over trying to keep Martin next year. After the French Grand Prix, many felt they should prioritise keeping the Spanish rider.

But after an outburst like this, there might be more tension between the two sides. Aprilia might even favour Marco Bezzecchi over Martin going forward.
