Jack Miller’s future in MotoGP is in jeopardy in 2026, and Moto2 star Izan Guevara might have just delivered the final blow to his career at the French Grand Prix.

Miller is out of contract at the end of 2026, having signed a new one-year deal at the end of 2025. If he is to keep his seat for the 2027 season and the new regulations, his results need to improve, having finished 17th in the standings last year.

Will Jack Miller still be a MotoGP rider in 2027?

However, in 2026, the Australian has scored just one point thus far, and that came at the French Grand Prix, finishing P15. Granted, his Yamaha is severely lacking performance, but he is being outperformed by rookie teammate Toprak Razgatlioglu.

Miller has only beaten his teammate once so far, and he is the lowest-ranked Yamaha rider in the championship. His experience is invaluable to the Iwata outfit, but even that might not be enough to keep his seat in 2027, especially with what Guevara has just done in Moto2.

Izan Guevara’s French Grand Prix could be the final straw for Jack Miller’s MotoGP career

The Spanish Moto2 rider, who is racing with Pramac, is being tipped as a title contender this season. He has grabbed three podiums in 2026, and the French GP was his best weekend to date.

Guevara took pole position, setting a new lap record for Moto2, before going on to win the race ahead of Manu Gonzalez. He is now second in the championship behind his fellow countryman by nine and a half points.

Meanwhile, in MotoGP, Miller was P15 at Le Mans, finishing over three seconds behind Razgatlioglu in 13th and over 36 seconds behind race winner Jorge Martin.

At the moment, Miller’s results are not giving Yamaha any reason to keep him in their rider line-up for 2027. But their young Moto2 hotshot is producing the goods this season and is making a serious case to land a MotoGP seat.

In fact, it has been reported that Guevara has a MotoGP contract ‘clause’ that would facilitate a move to Pramac in 2027. His Le Mans victory should have given Yamaha enough evidence to see that he is a serious prospect and will be worth putting on their 850cc bike next year.

What are Jack Miller’s options for 2027?

Staying with Pramac could well be Miller’s only option to stay in MotoGP in 2027, given how competitive and chaotic the MotoGP rider market is.

The Aussie may have to accept the reality of moving to another series, especially if Guevara continues his strong form in Moto2 this season.

Neil Hodgson thinks Miller should go to World Superbikes, citing how his former Pramac teammate, Miguel Oliveira, has already adapted well to the championship with BMW.

In fact, Miller could join Ducati’s WSBK team, with the Borgo Panigale outfit still holding him in high regard after his stint with them in MotoGP. There could be a seat available if star rider Nicolo Bulega manages to find a seat in the premier class in 2027.
