Moto2 star Izan Guevara could be poised to move to MotoGP in 2027 thanks to a clause in his contract.

Several riders in the intermediate class could be set to make the jump to the premier class next year. David Alonso is set to join Honda, while Daniel Holgado is being targeted by Gresini.

You’re in charge of Yamaha, who are you taking as the 2027 Pramac MotoGP line-up?

Spanish talent Guevara could well join them, given his connections to Yamaha. He races with Pramac’s Moto2 team and is currently second in the standings behind Manuel Gonzalez.

Yamaha see Guevara as another Fabio Quartararo, with the Frenchman set to join Honda in 2027. He is in the frame for a promotion to MotoGP, and his contract could be his golden ticket.

Izan Guevara has a contract ‘clause’ that allows him to move to MotoGP in 2027

Guevara is ‘practically certain’ to join MotoGP in 2027. It was reported that a factory Yamaha seat may be possible, but Ai Ogura’s signing alongside Jorge Martin has shut that down.

That leaves Pramac for the Spaniard. Toprak Razgatlioglu is already tied down for next season, and Guevara could get the nod to replace Jack Miller with a MotoGP ‘clause’ in his contract, as journalist Giovanni Zamagni has heard.

He discussed the MotoGP rider market on his #ZamTube YouTube channel: “Staying with Yamaha, the Pramac team will certainly be fielding Toprak Razgatlioglu at this stage, whilst the second rider is still under negotiation.

“As far as I know, Izan Guevara has a sort of clause in his contract that allows him to move up to MotoGP next season.

“So in my opinion, he will be the rider to partner the Superbike world champion, though other riders are also in talks for that spot.”

Can Jack Miller save his MotoGP seat in 2027?

If Guevara joins Pramac, it likely spells the end of Miller’s MotoGP career. He signed a one-year extension last year with the Tuscany-based team for 2026.

The Australian provides a wealth of experience, but has struggled to score consistent points. Ahead of the regulations changes in 2027, he could be set to lose his seat.

Miller could follow Alex Rins out of Yamaha, with the Spaniard set to be replaced by Ogura next season. But there could be a saving grace.

Miller could use the Adelaide GP as ‘leverage’, as Liberty Media need to have an Australian rider on the grid for the race in 2027.
