Alex Marquez, fresh off a massive win at the Spanish Grand Prix, spoke about his future with Gresini, and how he plans on approaching his future.

Marquez has been in talks with KTM as far back as a few months ago, with there being a strong belief that the Spanish rider will join the team in 2027.

Ducati snubbing Marquez paved a path to KTM for the young rider, who looks likely to leave Gresini, Ducati’s satellite team, at the end of this year.

Despite not being with them yet, Marquez has defended KTM as a team, only furthering the belief that he will be joining them come next year.

And it appears Alex Marquez has already informed Gresini of this possibility, as the rider has revealed the team know what his decision is going to be.

Alex Marquez says he has already informed Gresini of his future plans

Speaking in an interview with Cadena SER, Alex Marquez was asked about his future with Gresini, and whether he will continue with them beyond this season.

While he refrained from answering the question directly, Marquez did admit that he has informed Gresini about his future plans.

“We’ll see, time will tell. The head of Gresini has known my decision from the start, whether it’s to stay or go to KTM. Obviously, there have been contacts and conversations with many manufacturers…”

While Marquez has stayed tight-lipped about this whole thing, him namedropping KTM in the interview could be interpreted as a hint of his future.

However, until there is a clear answer on the direction he goes in, there is no way of knowing for sure what decision Marquez has made.

Alex Marquez says he ‘doesn’t care’ about becoming world champion before Marc Marquez retires

Speaking further in the interview, Alex Marquez was asked about his championship ambitions before Marc Marquez retires.

Alex responded quite bluntly, noting that he doesn’t care about winning before his brother retires, and just wants to be champion.

“I don’t care about that, I want to be world champion, that’s it. In the end, you’re very lucky to share the track with a guy like Marc Marquez and learn a lot from him, but at the same time, it’s a real shame.

“How many people have lost titles because he decided to win seven in MotoGP? A lot. But that’s how it is, you happen to be competing during the era of a Martian, and what can you do? That’s just how it is.”

Alex got a taste of getting the best of his brother at the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend. In fact, Marc was wowed by Alex Marquez and his performance at Jerez.

Hopefully, Alex can win a title while his brother is actively competing in MotoGP, as it would make for an amazing moment for fans all over the world.
