Jack Miller’s MotoGP career is under threat for the 2027 MotoGP season, but the new Adelaide street circuit could be what saves him.
The Australian rider has been under pressure to stay in the premier class for some time. After a disappointing spell at KTM, Miller was only given a one-year deal by Pramac Yamaha in 2025, before extending the deal for 2026.
Now, the 31-year-old is at risk of losing his seat again, having failed to score a point in the opening three races of 2026. A factory Yamaha seat is off the cards, with Jorge Martín and Ai Ogura signed for 2027, leaving him fighting for a contract at Pramac.

Izan Guevara and Senna Agius are linked with Pramac for next year, with Toprak Razgatlioglu already locked in. Miller has been beaten by his rookie teammate in all three races thus far, ramping up the pressure.
Miller could follow Alex Rins out of Yamaha in 2026, with the Spaniard losing his seat to Ogura. However, the Aussie saving grace could come in the form of his new home Grand Prix.
Adelaide Grand Prix could be ‘leverage’ for Jack Miller’s MotoGP career
The Australian Grand Prix will leave Phillip Island in 2027 and head to an all-new street circuit. Liberty Media had been pushing to move the race to another part of the country and have openly explored the idea of street courses.
The circuit, while it has not been built yet, has received strong opposition from riders, fans and experts. However, Adelaide could work out perfectly for Miller and his future.

As per a report from GPOne, the Pramac rider can use the race as ‘leverage’ to stay in MotoGP. The sport needs an Aussie on the grid for the Australian GP, and Liberty is keen to have as many nationalities on the grid as possible.
It was previously said that Miller’s passport would save his MotoGP career in 2027, and that could well be true, as the Adelaide circuit could be what keeps him at Pramac next year.

What does Jack Miller think of the Adelaide street circuit?
As aforementioned, the 2027 Australian GP has been met with strong criticism. The Adelaide F1 track designer opposes the MotoGP track, saying it is not a ‘good idea’ to run a race there.
However, some people have come to the circuit’s defence. Francesco Bagnaia says Adelaide is already better than Balaton Park, referring to the Hungarian circuit as a ‘parking lot’.

Miller thinks Adelaide is ‘amazing’ news for MotoGP, celebrating the fact that the sport is coming to a new part of Australia.
But most have expressed concerns about the principle of a street circuit and how safe the layout will be for the riders. Liberty will, of course, keep that in mind, but losing Phillip Island has been seen as a monumental loss.
