With 2027 preparations becoming a significant point of emphasis for teams within MotoGP, Honda seem to be ahead of the curve compared to other teams.
Honda were dealt a huge blow in their search for a second satellite team, with Gresini rejecting them in favour of Ducati despite extended and productive talks.
But they haven’t given up, as Honda are now in talks with Tech3 to become their satellite team, effectively taking them away from KTM.

And with Joan Mir set to leave Honda in 2027, there is a lot of uncertainty around the team and their future. Some fans speculated that Fabio Quartararo, who is set to join Honda, might be frustrated
However, given the reporting about Honda’s outlook ahead of the 2027 season, Quartararo will be delighted to ride for them next year.

Honda are ‘ahead of schedule’ in 2027 development after recent Sepang test
Speaking on the Motorsport Republica podcast, MotoGP reporter Jack Appleyard was asked to name the team that looks the most ready ahead of the 2027 season.
Surprisingly, Appleyard named Honda as the team that have made the most progress, noting that they’ve already begun testing in Sepang as of this week, and look to take a huge leap.
“Really impossible to say at the moment. As far as we know, the Italian manufacturers haven’t had the 850 on the track yet. Honda, I’ve seen Aleix Espargaro and Takaaki Nakagami are in Sepang right now, likely testing the 850.
“They are really ahead of schedule and have already been doing a lot of miles on the 850. So you’d have to say, Honda. They’ve been testing in Sepang over Christmas, and they’re now back out again.
“They’re going to have six bikes on the grid. We know how important that is. So yeah, I think Honda look to be in great shape and certainly will be the manufacturer to take the biggest jump from 2026 to 2027.”

If the reports of Honda’s preparedness for the 2027 season are true, this could be great news for Quartararo, who currently finds himself in a difficult situation with Yamaha.
In Austin, Quartararo claimed Yamaha couldn’t fix his bike, a comment that did not go down well among MotoGP fans.
Several fans called out Quartararo for his Yamaha comments, noting that he was displaying a great deal of unprofessionalism with such a public display of frustration.
As Quartararo tries to make the best out of his final season with Yamaha, he can look forward to taking a huge step forward with Honda next year.
