Gresini are facing huge uncertainty for the 2027 MotoGP season as they are currently without bikes. They are now in talks with three manufacturers.

The team’s contract with Ducati expires at the end of 2026, having finished second in the championship last year. However, there is doubt as to whether they will renew said deal.

Gresini are not meeting Ducati’s financial demands for 2027, with the Borgo Panigale outfit set to provide factory bikes to their satellite teams. They also do not have riders, with Alex Marquez joining KTM and Fermin Aldeguer being moved by Ducati to VR46.

Team boss Nadia Padovani is upset with Ducati over losing Aldeguer, which has caused friction between the two parties. It has led to rumours that Gresini are in talks with Honda, with the Japanese manufacturer looking to have six bikes on the grid.

Gresini are in talks with Aprilia amid Honda and Ducati rumours

However, they are not the only MotoGP manufacturer with whom Gresini are speaking. Journalist Mela Chercoles has revealed that Aprilia are also in the conversation.

Asked on the NicoabadTV YouTube channel for an update on Gresini, he said: “I don’t know. I don’t know, but the thing is, they don’t know either. They haven’t renewed with Ducati yet. Mind you, there’s a chance Ducati might field four bikes next season.

“Because they haven’t renewed with Gresini. Gresini is in talks with Honda and Aprilia as well. Let’s see what happens in the end with other manufacturers.

“There’s also talk of Tech 3, which is unlikely to continue with KTM. That’s interesting. Honda wants to increase the number of its satellite bikes, and have a total of six bikes on the track. Right now, Gresini are without riders and without a bike for next season.”

Tech3 are also in talks with Aprilia

Aprilia already have a satellite team in Trackhouse, and likely does not have the budget to add a second team to their ranks.

The Noale outfit say that Trackhouse are the priority for 2027, but the team are also considering their options. Trackhouse were linked with Honda earlier this year, and now, Tech3 have entered the frame.

Guenther Steiner’s team are believed to be keen on leaving KTM at the end of their contract in 2026. Chercoles says they have been talking to Honda and Aprilia, adding to the reports that Tech3 could join Ducati as Gresini’s replacement.

“They’re talking to Honda as well,” he said. “They’ve also spoken to Aprilia. Things are moving. Yes, yes, things are moving. It’s not at all clear whether they’ll stay together or not. There’s a mess.”
