The Trackhouse MotoGP team have been Aprilia’s satellite outfit since they joined the premier class, but that partnership could soon be in jeopardy.
The American outfit joined MotoGP in 2024, coming on board with Aprilia. They will continue to run the manufacturer’s RS-GP bikes in 2026 before their contract expires in 2027.
Following a difficult rookie season in 2024, Trackhouse have made serious progress in 2025, thanks to the improved development of the RS-GP. Raul Fernandez secured his first MotoGP win at Phillip Island, also marking Trackhouse’s first victory in MotoGP.
A P7 finish in the championship gives the American team something to build on at Aprilia with Fernandez and Ai Ogura on board. However, things could be set to change come 2027.

Trackhouse have ‘already started negotiations’ with Honda for 2027
Recent reports have suggested that VR46 could finalise a deal to join Aprilia in 2027. The Ducati satellite team, owned by Valentino Rossi, are said to be exploring their options, having been beaten by Gresini in 2025, despite being second-in-command at the Borgo Panigale outfit.
Unless Aprilia find the budget to bring a second satellite team, this move could spell the end of Trackhouse’s partnership. It is being reported that the team are already considering alternatives.
According to Motosprint, the American outfit have ‘already started negotiations’ with Honda for 2027. The switch would see them use RC213V machines from the start of the new technical regulations.
It would mark the ‘first major change’ of Trackhouse’s MotoGP project, having been with Aprilia since its inception. With VR46 in talks with the Noale outfit, they may have no choice but to explore other manufacturers.

Honda want a second satellite team in their MotoGP project
Honda are a manufacturer on the rise in MotoGP after what has been a torrid last few years. The Japanese giants have regressed dramatically since the turn of the decade, not helped by the departure of Marc Marquez.
2025 saw strong progress from Honda, with Johann Zarco winning them their first race since 2023 and Joan Mir collecting two P3 finishes after the second break. Honda are now in C rank of the concession system in 2026, highlighting their improvements.

It was previously reported that the manufacturer were looking to add to their MotoGP project and bring on a second satellite team alongside LCR.
Honda were linked with signing Tech3 earlier in the year amid their uncertainty at KTM. But now, it seems that Trackhouse have become the new target for the Japanese giants.
