Diogo Moreira is likely to keep his seat at LCR Honda in 2027, but Lucio Cecchinello has not ruled out a potential factory seat next season.
The Brazilian is in a comfortable situation on the MotoGP rider market for the 2027 season. Moreira has a three-year contract after signing with LCR in 2026, which secures his spot on the grid until at least 2028.
What is interesting about his deal, however, is that it is directly linked with HRC. This has led to speculation that Moreira could join the factory Honda team in 2027 after one year with the satellite team.
Who will be MotoGP’s top rookie in the 2026 season?
The rookie has been making huge strides forward with his development in the premier class. Moreira has been seeking advice from Marc Marquez, who is proving to be a key role model.
Scoring points on his MotoGP debut in Thailand with P13, Moreira is certainly heading in the right direction. His contract opens the door for a factory move, and his LCR boss has not ruled that out.

Lucio Cecchinello says the plan is for Diogo Moreira to stay at LCR, but Honda have the final decision
Honda have signed Fabio Quartararo for 2027, thus leaving it open as to who will partner him at HRC next season.
It was reported that Luca Marini is set to stay at Honda, but he has since attracted interest from Yamaha. With Joan Mir’s future also uncertain, Moreira suddenly stands out as a top candidate for a factory move.
However, LCR boss Cecchinello says that the plan is for the Brazilian to stay with the satellite team in 2027. But as he noted to Speedweek, the final decision ultimately falls to Honda.
Predict the order of the Honda riders in the 2026 MotoGP standings
“Diogo Moreira has a two-year contract with HRC with an option for a third season,” he said. “This means he is tied to HRC. HRC has assigned him to my team for the 2026 season. So the reality is: yes, the plan is to continue with him in 2027, but the final decision rests with HRC.
Asked if this could mean a factory Honda seat for Moreira, he replied: “In theory, yes. In reality, we work closely with HRC. It’s not like I’m informed at the last minute and then have to panic and find a replacement.
“This would be a decision planned well in advance. And if something like that happens, HRC will certainly look for another driver.”
