Ducati could be set for multiple changes in their rider line-up for the 2027 MotoGP season, according to rumours.

The Borgo Panigale factory will be looking to maintain their dominance in the 850cc era in 2027, having won every constructors’ title since 2020, heading into 2026. But come next year, their roster could look very different.

Ducati have moved fast on the MotoGP rider market to try and keep Marc Marquez in their factory line-up. Reports suggest that Marquez has signed his 2027 contract with Ducati, while Pedro Acosta is set to replace Francesco Bagnaia after leaving KTM.

Bagnaia looks Yamaha-bound after suffering a torrid 2025 season on the GP25. It is not just the Italian that looks set to leave Ducati at the end of 2026, as Gresini rider Alex Marquez looks to be joining KTM, replacing Acosta.

With the Ducati roster set for a reshuffle, several riders will be looking to join the Borgo Panigale outfit for 2027, and one talent could be closing in on a seat.

Jaime Alguersuari thinks David Alonso has ‘one foot in Ducati’ for 2027 MotoGP season

Moto2 star David Alonso has been catching the attention of the MotoGP paddock after his impressive performances in the lower categories.

After dominating Moto3 in 2024 with 14 wins from 20 races, the Colombian finished ninth in his debut Moto2 season with one win and five podiums. Remaining with the CFMoto Aspar Team in 2026, he will be tipped as one of the favourites for the title.

The 19-year-old is targeting a move to MotoGP in 2027, and some teams have already expressed an interest. Luigi Dall’Igna would like to sign Alonso for Ducati, having been impressed by his talent.

Former rider Jaime Alguersuari thinks the teenage sensation has ‘one foot in Ducati’ for 2027, and that the team ‘isn’t stupid’ about his talent.

He told Motosan: “And pay close attention: this year, I’m talking about two of the seven; the others each have their own issues.

“Alonso says no, no, Alonso probably already has one foot in Ducati for the future, but Ducati isn’t stupid. Who knows better than journalists, pundits, and podcasters? It’s the one who pays, the one who buys, not the talent factory. I’m not going to spend my money if it’s not the best.”

Ducati are facing competition from Honda to sign David Alonso

Marc Marquez is backing Alonso for the Moto2 title in 2026, alongside his Aspar teammate, Daniel Holgado. Come 2027, the seven-time MotoGP champion could be riding next to the Colombian at Ducati.

But with Acosta rumoured to be joining Marquez in the factory team, the Moto2 star will be joining one of the satellite outfits. Valentino Rossi is interested in Alonso for VR46 in 2027.

Honda are also interested in signing Alonso and are in a battle with Ducati for his signature. However, according to reports, it is the latter who are currently losing.

Alonso is demanding 10 times more than what Ducati can offer for 2027, with the Colombian wanting a ‘top rider’s salary’. Given Honda’s superior finances, they would be in a position to meet his demands and take him on board for next season.
