Marc Marquez is back riding motorcycles with Ducati after a gruelling period of recovery from his injury in 2025.
The Spaniard took part in private tests at the Aspar circuit in Valencia last week, riding the Ducati Panigale V2. The road bike was modified to give Marquez the appropriate sensations before he returns to full MotoGP machinery.

By all accounts, the test went as planned for the defending champion, but the day was marred by Fermin Aldeguer suffering injury after a violent highside. The Gresini rider underwent successful surgery on his left femur, but his recovery time is unknown.
Ducati test rider Michele Pirro says Marquez is looking good after his first outing since his crash in Indonesia. Fractures to his right shoulder ruled him out for the last four events of the 2025 season.

Marquez’s test in Valencia is encouraging for his recovery and preparations for the 2026 season, where he will be looking to win his 10th world championship.
A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport says that the 32-year-old has now ‘ruled out’ the possibility of him missing pre-season testing in Sepang, which is due to take place between February 3-5.
‘There were fears and speculations’ that Marquez would not make it to Malaysia because of his injury and would return for the first race of the season in Thailand without proper preparation.
Marquez missed his ‘holidays’ to focus on his rehabilitation and ensure that he would be back in time for testing in Sepang. It seems that will now happen, as he is ‘appearing motivated and likely’ to feature in Malaysia.

Marquez is nearing his return to his Desmosedici MotoGP machine. But before that happens, he still has a busy schedule as he looks to get back to full fitness.
Marquez could take part in a World Superbike test later this month, should he deem it appropriate. Ducati have hired the Portimao circuit for their WSBK and MotoGP riders.
There is also the matter of his contract, which is due to expire in 2026. Ducati will want to give the defending champion fresh terms and tie him down as soon as possible.
However, Honda are eyeing up Marquez for 2027, and the Spaniard has not ruled out a sensational return. But he has made it clear that he wants to win with any bike he rides and will not decide out of nostalgia.
